Heinrich Himmler was surely one of the most evil and enigmatic of all
the Nazi leaders. Those who knew him rightfully feared him even more
than Hitler. He served the Nazi cause as supreme leader of the dreaded
SS, and, eventually, head of the Gestapo and all German police forces.
He was responsible for ordering the deaths of millions—starting with
the “blood purge” of 1934 and ending with the systematic murder of Jews,
Slavs, Communists, Gypsies, intellectuals, churchmen, etc.—all those
who were considered undesirable, racially inferior or dangerous to the
Nazi cause.
Himmler was the ultimate racist/mystic/idealist. He was educated as
an agriculturalist and sought to breed the new “Aryan Superman” just
as one cultivates new strains of plants or breeds animals for improved
genetic qualities. This selective approach to human genetics (and his
intense focus upon the genealogy of his elite SS corps) demonstrated
his powerful seventh ray—probably the ray of his soul, though the conditioning
presence of the first ray cannot be denied. The following quotation
from the Tibetan is relevant for many of the Nazi leaders, no matter
what their principal ray:
“the bulk of the egos now in power in Germany are on the first subray
of the seven different rays, and hence they are from one dominant angle
the transmitters of first ray force.” (EP I 386)
Himmler was a seventh ray occultist. He had a great interest in astrology,
reincarnation, herbalism, and in magic, ceremonial rites, rituals and
mystical orders. He was profoundly influenced (as was Hitler)
by the periodical, Astara (Hitler was an avid collector),
published by the Austrian mystic, occultist, racist, Jorg Lunz—a former
monk with a vision of a glorious Aryan future, ruled by occultist priest/kings
To this end he formed the Order of New Templars, attempting to revive
the ancient tradition of the Knights Templar of the Middle Ages. From
Lunz Himmler eagerly absorbed a burning faith in Aryanism, and began,
earnestly and methodically, to create, through the SS, a mystical order
of “knights” (reflecting, in their highest echelons, the Knights of
the Round Table) which would form the elite vanguard of a new Aryan
Civilization composed only of those of “pure” Aryan blood. Eventually
he created an SS Army (the Waffen SS) of a million men, and an corps
of exterminators known as the Death’s-Head SS.
The doctrines of the East propounded by Madame Blavatsky were woefully,
distorted materialized, and literalized. “God” was seen as embodied
in blood and race, and the most ‘spiritual’ of all quests was considered
to be the elimination of all racial “impurities” from the German racial
stock which, according to this theory, was the genetic pool containing
the greatest concentration of ancient Aryan blood. Eventually, within
120 years (so Himmler confidently estimated) the German people (and
especially the SS) would become an entirely regenerated Aryan race,
purged of all racial contaminants.
Himmler’s Sun Sign was Libra. His decision (“Let choice be made”)
determined life or death (mostly death) for millions. The seventh ray
combining with Libra made him interested in the “perfect form” and,
indeed, those considered racially pure or qualified were selected according
to many superficial, external criteria (seventh ray)—blond hair, blue
eyes, and the shape and proportion of head, body and limbs. As well,
in the Himmler-sponsored breeding programs for the “new race”, he and
his officials determined (especially in relation to the SS) who was
allowed to marry (Libra) and who was not. Any bride of a prospective
SS member, had to prove her German/Aryan heritage back to the year 1750.
Eventually, these marriage restrictions extended to all of German society,
in which it was, for instance, forbidden for Germans to marry those
with Jewish blood.
Some of Himmler’s Libran qualities were strangely horrifying. He loved
music, so it is said (Venus, ruler of Libra, sextile Neptune and sextile
Mercury) and sponsored concentration camp orchestras (the performances
of which he appreciatively attended). A concentration camp inmate might
survive by playing a musical instrument sufficiently well. Further,
his refined Libran sensibilities made the mass shooting of thousands
of “undesirables” personally distasteful to him. He sought a less crude
and objectionable way of eliminating “sub-human” groups—gas!
The sign Aquarius (in its lowest manifestation) is directly associated
with the Nazi Party and it was Himmler’s Ascendant. Himmler worked through
groups. The formation of the SS as an elite (and standardized)
corps of racially superior men is a negative reflection of his Aquarianism.
This sign, when combined with the seventh and sixth rays, gave Himmler
his passion for mystical “orders”. He purchased an old, romantic yet
formidable German castle, renovated it at tremendous expense, and made
it the mystical heart of the SS “Order”, conducting occult rituals in
its specially re-designed ceremonial chambers and crypts. There he would
commune with the “Aryan Race Soul” and with the spirit of Heindrich
I of Saxony (of whom Himmler believed he was the reincarnation). King
Heindrich I drove the Slavs back to the East in the year 900, and Himmler
believed that he and his “holy order” (the SS) had a similar and far
grander destiny in the modern world—to protect and defend Aryan Civilization
from a great onslaught which could be expected from the East.
There is no question of Himmler’s intense sixth ray, even though, so
it appears, he was cold, calculating and self-controlled. Hitler called
him, “my loyal Heinrich”. Himmler was fanatical in his pursuit of “Aryan
Destiny”. He was guided by a mysterious, old German occultist who claimed
to have psychic powers which revealed to him the origin of the true
Aryans, some 225,000 years ago, and their irresistible destiny in the
modern world. Himmler believed (sixth ray) and followed, fanatically,
these beliefs. According to this perverted and mystical ideology, the
ancient, occult and psychic powers were lost to the German race by interbreeding
with inferior races, and would again, through the most stringent racially
selective breeding processes and purging of inferior types, be fully
restored. The Aryan “Superman” (latent in the blood of the German race)
would be bred into existence. Himmler set himself to engineer this breeding.
It is easy to see evidences of Himmler’s idealism and fanaticism in
the chart. Jupiter (the esoteric ruler of the Aquarius Ascendant), is
culminating in idealistic, visionary, sixth ray Sagittarius, and conjunct
both the MC and Uranus. This indicates the grand vision by which he
was possessed. (He was possessed as well by a powerful, evil entity
or entities as was Hitler; most of the high Nazis were, in the end,
but “shells” through which black magicians on the astral and mental
planes expressed their evil designs). The revolutionary nature of this
vision (a whole new, idealistic “order”) is indicated by Uranus in Sagittarius.
Himmler sought a huge (Jupiter) transformation (Uranus) of society and
eventually humanity. This was his perverted dharma (MC and tenth house).
It should also be remembered that both Jupiter and, especially, Uranus
have potent seventh ray qualities, and, together, would serve as a powerful
center of expression for his seventh ray soul. It is also interesting
to see that Uranus and Jupiter are both the rulers of his Ascendant,
Aquarius—Uranus, exoteric, and Jupiter, esoteric. For Himmler, these
two are, indeed, planets of destiny. They are strengthened by sixth
ray Mars (conjunct dedicated Vesta) in first ray Leo—trine, and conferring
command and egotism (Himmler was a formidable opponent—seventh house),
and the Moon in first ray Aries, conferring impulse, eagerness, and
a militant and yet obedient attitude. A grand trine in fire signs is
thereby created, giving the great confidence (and over-estimation) typical
of his character.
Was Himmler a “disciple”, and is it, therefore, justified to use an
esoteric ruler (like Jupiter) in the case of such an individual? He
was certainly a disciple of the “Black Lodge”. Further, let it be remembered
that until approximately midway between the second and third initiations,
it is not known which way a man will “go”. He probably will go on, sacrificially,
towards the Spiritual Hierarchy of our planet, following the “Christ-line”.
But it is also possible for an probationary initiate of the second degree
(“pure” and self-controlled) to reject the way of love and consciously
or unconsciously apply for membership in the Black Lodge. Very proably,
Himmler was such an ‘initiate’, and Hitler certainly was. Therefore,
esoteric rulers can reasonably be consulted in such cases, although,
in Himmler’s case, Jupiter would be powerful anyway because it is found
in the sign which it rules exoterically—Sagittarius.
Mercury is in the beginning of deadly Scorpio, giving plot, strategy
and the ability to think (Mercury) the deaths (Scorpio) of millions.
It is also sextile to his Venus in Leo giving his artistic appreciation,
furthered by a sextile from Neptune in Gemini in the house of creativity
(H5) and a trine from Saturn in the house of culture (H11). This Neptune
position is interestingly placed in the house of “children”. So much
of Himmler’s idealism (Neptune) was focussed on his eugenics programs,
on his “Well-Born” houses, where SS men were bred with any sufficiently
Aryan German woman willing to become a “mother” in service of the State.
We can see, therefore, how a major aspect of glamor (Neptune) was focussed
in this house of “creativity”.
Pluto, too, is interesting (and “lethal”) in the fourth house of heredity.
Himmler applied his formidable powers of research (Pluto) to eliminate
(Pluto) all those whose family or heredity (fourth house) were considered
inferior or sub-standard. Pluto in this position (combined with the
seventh ray) indicates genealogical research.
In summary, Himmler’s rays are principally the seventh and the sixth.
The seventh is probably the ray of the soul. He sought the manifestation
of a new super-race enthroned in a new super-state, and he organized
brilliantly, thoroughly (and magically and occultly) to manifest this
vision. His fanatical loyalty and intensely narrow vision (for him,
the War in the West with France and England was just a “distraction”
in relation to his ‘greater’ plans in the East for racial purification
and domination) speaks for a sixth ray personality. The first ray is
pervasive in most of the Nazi leaders, as the quotation above from Esoteric
Psychology I, states. The fifth ray may, perhaps, be found in the
mind, evidenced in his emphasis upon genetic research, and his technical,
methodical, and cold-minded procedures.
In Himmler we see a truly terrifying human being—a talented, intelligent,
highly accomplished, fanatically motivated psychopath—a man blinded
by his own idealism and visions of grandeur, and in search of the restoration
of ancient, gods, and the supremacy of the ancient Nordic “racial soul”.
He longed for the return of the Aryan”, occult powers—for himself and
for his ‘elite’ race—the “Master Race”—whom he envisioned as the destined
rulers of the world.
Fortunately for humanity, his plans (Saturn) were frustrated (Saturn
in the eleventh house opposed to dissolutive Neptune). He attempted
to escape the encircling Allies disguised as a common soldier. He was
recognized, took a cyanide capsule (elusive Neptune sextile Venus, ruler
of the eighth house of death), escaped capture and trial, dying on May
23, 1945.
In this year of the Great Decision (remembering Himmler was a Libran)—at
this time of high Aquarian group idealism (remembering that Himmler
had an Aquarius Ascendant), we who study the Ageless Wisdom must remember
how our beautiful and redemptive Teaching can be perverted by those
whose selfish love of power and hatred of the human heart are inconceivably
great. As we decide upon the type of individual we wish to become,
let us be warned by this example of the depths of evil to which a human
being can descend, all the while glamoured by lofty idealism and a vision
of a glorious destiny.

Jeddu Krishnamurti
Sage, Teacher of Spirituality

Jeddu Krishnamurti was one of the twentieth century’s best known teachers
of spirituality. He was personally cultivated at an early age by C.W.
Leadbeater and Annie Besant (two leading figures in the Theosophical
Society). In their eyes, he was to become the “World Teacher” and, indeed,
for a brief period, so we are told, an experiment was undertaken wherein
the true World Teacher and Head of the Spiritual Hierarchy, the Christ,
overshadowed the boy and attempted to work through him. It was during
this period that the book, At the Feet of the Master was produced.
But Krishnamurti, for various reasons, became increasingly dissatisfied
with his Theosophical mentors, and with his own Theosophically related
activities, and during a crisis period broke from them and began thinking
and teaching in an entirely new way. For the rest of his life he pursued
this radical departure from his early Theosophical roots, becoming known
throughout the world for his insistence that spiritual aspirants should
think for themselves and approach divinity without pre-conceptions and
without dependence upon the Masters or even upon spiritual teachers—such
as themselves. He seemed to revert to his own version of the ancient
Vedanta, which considered the ego illusory and the mind simply the source
of illusion—however much that mind was used to prove its own illusory
nature.
As his life advanced, Krishnamurti developed a world following (something
essentially against his own philosophy of spiritual independence). Near
the end, he had disciples in many countries, and even within the United
Nations Organization, some of the leaders of which referred to him as
the “World Teacher”.
The chart of Krishnamurti (and of other such developed souls) can be
read confidently in an esoteric manner, using esoteric rulerships and,
in some cases, hierarchical rulerships. The major signs involved are
Aquarius Taurus, and Sagittarius—his Ascendant, Sun and Moon Sign respectively.
Here Taurus is definitely the sign of illumination which arises when
the illusions of mind have been defeated. Interestingly his Taurus Sun
is placed in the third house where the customary thinking processes
of the mind are symbolized. Krishnamurti was a powerful thinker and
reasoner (the close semi-sextile between Mercury in Taurus and Venus
in Gemini must be effective, with the Moon in Sagittarius contributing
the philosophical impulse, and remembering how many famous philosophers
have had strong Taurean energy). It was as if he followed Ramakrishna’s
dictum: “the mind is like a thorn; use the thorn to remove the thorn,
then throw them both away”. He thought intensively in order to prove
the worthlessness of the usual thought process, calling the mind “just
a bundle of memories”.
In his inherently Vedantic approach, Krishnamurti was, perhaps, even
more uncompromising than the Buddha, attempting in his teaching to destroy
all attachments to the possessions of consciousness. In this we must
remember that Taurus, on the lower turn of the spiral, seeks to have,
thus preventing its own freedom. Using the first ray, Krishnamurti rigorously
separated the perceiver from the contents of consciousness, without
ever referring specifically to the authority of any ancient doctrine
(thus displaying the non-traditionalism of the Aquarian)
His Ascendant, Aquarius, signals his resonance with a New Age offering
the possibilities of new (yet anciently based) spiritual approaches,
and the tremendous effect he has had upon those who are sensitive to
the new vibration. There is a close connection between Aquarius and
Alcyone (the “Star of the Individual”, the central star of the Pleiades,
visually part of the constellation Taurus, and considered to be “in”
the sign in which Krishnamurti was born). In fact, in early days, Krishnamurti
was known as “Alcyone” and a book was written, The Lives of Alcyone,
which purported to describe about fifty of his past incarnations, dating
back some fifty thousand years. Perhaps this identification with the
“Star of the Individual” can explain his insistence upon spiritual self-reliance.
In the book, The Initiate in the Dark Cycle, by Cyril Scott, Krishnamurti
was said (by one of the Masters) to have been passing through
the Arhat Initiation (the fourth), at which time, according to the Tibetan’s
teachings on esoteric astrology, both Taurus (via Vulcan) and Aquarius
(most often the sign of the last physical incarnation) can be powerful.
He certainly possessed the power rigorously to destroy illusion conferred
by illuminative Taurus, and necessary for those who are to pass through
this fourth spiritual step. He was, as well, from the nature of his
life, essentially, a renunciant and seemed to abide in a state of “Isolated
Unity” even when surrounded by crowds. Further, his life reflected an
Aquarian synthetic summation characteristic of those focussed upon the
freedom from the fourth kingdom to be found at that degree.
Without attempting to be entirely specific, Krishnamurti’s rays seem
to have been (from the spiritual perspective) principally the second
and the first (both of these radiating from levels ‘above’ the personality—though
the first ray may be found within the personality as well), with some
fourth ray within the personality or its vehicles conferring imagery,
appreciation of beauty and intuition. The sixth ray of devotion was
also present—in the early days. He undoubtedly began his life with a
second ray focus. and the “overshadowing experiment” would require this
ray if he were to resonate with the second ray quality of Maitreya,
the Christ. His early statements and his first book are filled with
the quality of the Ray of Love-Wisdom.
After he dissolved his Theosophical associations, however, his ray focus
seemed to change, and far more of the first ray entered. He was still
and ever the teacher (and so the second ray certainly did not disappear)
but his teaching grew increasingly demanding and austere. Even if he
remained upon the second ray in his soul, there are essentially three
different ways to express upon this ray—the way of the occultist (the
third sub-aspect of the second ray), expressing occult knowledge in
meticulous detail; the way of pure love (the second sub-aspect) which
is the Christ’s way; and the way of wisdom—the Buddha’s way, which expresses
the first sub-aspect of the second ray (cf. DINA II 518) He seemed to
choose this latter approach which resonated closely with the essentially
first ray philosophy of the Vedanta of which he became an active exponent
without categorizing or labeling his teaching. At Krishnamurti’s stage
of development, however, the influence of the monadic ray would also
become a factor, and one could debate whether the monadic quality was
the first, or whether the subray of the monad was the first. Before
jumping to conclusions, must be remembered in this regard, that the
Buddha expressed His second ray along the wisdom line (and hence upon
the first sub-aspect of the second ray), however, the Buddha was a third
ray monad. The change in the quality of Krishnamurti’s teaching was
obviously towards a more first ray coloring, but caution must be used
in assigning the source of that quality.
The chart is rich is fourth ray potentials as well. The Sun and fourth
ray Mercury are placed in fourth ray Taurus; Saturn and Uranus are found
in fourth ray Scorpio; and the fourth ray Moon is place in Sagittarius
(with its own fourth ray component). This would be an important ray
for Krishnamurti, given his initiatory process and life purpose. Undergoing
the fourth initiation requires the use of the fourth ray, the ray which
“rules” this initiation. As well, every Arhat must contact the fourth
kingdom (humanity) in a new, constructive and liberating way. Obviously,
by numerical resonance, one can more easily relate to the fourth kingdom
as a whole, if the fourth ray is present. This ray may well be influential
in Krishnamurti’s personality and/or lower mind, and certainly he employed
it in his essentially intuitive and buddhi approach—for the plane of
buddhi or of intuition is the fourth. Buddhi Mercury in Taurus and the
Moon in Sagittarius (on of the intuitive signs) would certainly enhance
the power of the intuition.
From a planetary perspective, transformative Uranus is powerful as the
exoteric ruler of the Aquarian Ascendant, and Uranus is placed in the
ninth house. Krishnamurti did, in fact, cause a revolution (Uranus)
in higher thought (ninth house) and in philosophical perception. Uranus
is found is destructive and transformational Scorpio, and opposed to
the ‘seeing’ Sun in Taurus. This is a very strong and powerfully first
ray aspect because of the Vulcan rulership of Taurus and the Pluto rulership
of Scorpio. It was not to be expected that Krishnamurti would simply
“go along” placidly (initial Taurus) with his early education. He would
think for himself and cause a dramatic disturbance (even a revolution)
within the Theosophical Society.
Saturn, too, is placed in Scorpio in the ninth house, so he squarely
faced (Saturn) what he perceived to be illusions of thought and then
did all he could to transform them (Uranus). He purpose was to evoke
the emergence of light (Taurus and Vulcan), the intuitive illumination
of the mind. The exoteric ruler of Taurus is Venus in Gemini (of which
Venus is the esoteric ruler). This placement relates to the use of the
antahkarana, the “rainbow bridge” which connects the personal consciousness
with the vaster, intuitive and impersonal awareness of the Spiritual
Triad. The placement of Venus in the fifth house of “causal expression”
(wherefrom the accumulated qualities and faculties of the causal body
are accessed and revealed), shows that he could easily draw information
and content (Gemini) from his own “treasury” (the causal body), for
Venus symbolizes this vehicle and the accumulated personal/transpersonal
knowledge which there resides.
Jupiter (the esoteric ruler of the Aquarian Ascendant) is an important
planet, conjunct Venus (and thus indicating an abundance of soul gifts)
and conjunct Mars—Jupiter and Mars being in Cancer. Jupiter is placed
at just about the midpoint between Venus and Mars. Jupiter is the planet
of wisdom and distributes the second ray. These three together suggest
as relationship between the solar plexus center (Mars), the heart center
(Jupiter) and the ajna center (Venus). It is clear that Krishnamurti
was in individual with deep and sometimes disturbing emotions, but this
agitation was lifted up into the light and love of wisdom, represented
by Jupiter and Venus. Interestingly, it is said that the problem of
sex (and let us note that these planets are found in the fifth house)
is solved at the fourth initiation. Certainly, Venus and Mars are the
archetypal female and male—Venus in the sign of the “angels” and Mars
in a sign associated with the lunar lords. The conflict is present (for
the fourth ray is strong in Krishnamurti) and it is resolved by a fulfilled
wisdom (second ray Jupiter in Cancer). With Jupiter in the position of
is exaltation, there is always a fulfillment to be experienced. This
fulfillment can be of the form or of consciousness. These three planets
have much to do with Krishnamurti’s work as an educator—of the “younger
generation”—fifth house.
With respect to this fifth house, it is a major field of self-reliance,
and points to the authenticity of Krishnamurti’s later teachings—derived
and expressed not from doctrine, but from his own resources of consciousness.
The Venus opposition to the Sagittarian Moon is worth noting, for it
places the symbol of the soul, Venus, in opposition to the symbol of
the lunar lords (the Moon) which, interestingly, is placed in the sign
rules the Creative Hierarchy of Lunar Lords. In this opposition we see
a re-accentuation of the soul/personality contrast to be seen in Venus
and Mars. Mars and the Moon are, from certain perspectives, equivalents,
and both are closely related to the irrational lunar vehicles. Venus
redeems the Moon, just as the “angel” (Gemini) redeems the “animal”
(Sagittarius). The lunar lords must be completely conquered at the fourth
initiation, and this Venus opposition to the major symbol of these lords
is a factor in the conquest. The mediated relationship between Venus
and Mars is another.
The Neptune/Pluto conjunction (found in the charts of a number of Nazis
born at the same period, and used to perpetrate illusion and bring about
the death of true thought, are here used to destroy the foundations
(fourth house) of illusion. Glamor and illusion combine to create the
prison in which the modern human being is enmeshed. This inherently
destructive combination destroys (Pluto) and dissolves (Neptune) old
thoughtforms, and clears the way for new perceptions of truth related
to Krishnamurti’s revolutionary Uranus in the house of higher thought.
For an initiate of the third degree in process of becoming an Arhat
of the fourth degree, hierarchical rulers may be seen as important.
The Sagittarian Moon is the hierarchical ruler of the Aquarian Ascendant,
emphasizing the need, at the fourth degree, to completely subdue the
Moon (ruled by the number four), so that all four of the lunar vehicles
can become instruments for the expression of the threefold Triad and
their source, the monad.
The star aspects are also worth noting though it is not possible to
enter in detail all interesting factors in relation to this chart. Buddhic,
reasoning Mercury is indeed conjunct the star Alcyone, “the Star of
the Individual”, accounting, at least partially, for the major theme
of independence which resounds in Krishnamurti’s teaching. Mars
is conjunct Sirius (the “Scorcher”) contributing to some of his fiery,
purificatory experiences. Jupiter (the esoteric ruler of the Ascendant)
is conjunct Mirzam (the “Announcer”), magnifying the awakening effect
of his message. His powerful Uranus is closely conjunct to Zuben Elschamali,
which has been called the star of “Negative Social Reform”, emphasizing
that attempts at reformation are undertaken without consultation or
without regard for the needs of society. When one thinks of the shocking
effect of his teaching (especially upon Theosophists) this star position
seems to have significance. However, the Ascendant is parallel within
one minute of arc of a companion star in Libra, Zuben Elgenubi, the
star of “Positive Social Reform”, balancing the picture. That Krishnamurti
was interested in reform, and especially of consciousness, is undisputed.
There are other interesting star positions which bear examination.
It is tempting to take an exhaustive approach to this chart, which,
unfortunately is beyond the scope and purpose of this present volume
of Tapestry. For those who are interested in a fine astrological analysis
of Krishnamurti and his life process, we would recommend the excellent
work of the astrologer Phillip Lindsay, who has entered these matters
in great depth. See “The Initiations of Krishnamurti: An Astrological
Biography”.
Krishnamurti used both the first and second rays to help create the
new, Aquarian human being. He applied great will and wisdom to accomplish
an essentially Aquarian transformation.

Finding the Rays
Michael D. Robbins
It
is big job to find the rays of a person. When I was writing my Tapestry
book on the rays, I closely analyzed the rays of seven important people,
(an
more superficially, many others) and did so with practically no reference
to
their astrological charts. I did not want to be biased.
But I think it important take out the chart before proceeding too far
with
ray analysis. Some of what one thinks are rays, may have an obvious
explanation in the chart configuration.
When I think of the rays of the vehicles I put on my "generalizer".
I try not
to be too taken in by specifics, and look instead for global impressions.
As
I suggested in my last email on this subject, the many rays combine
to make
the one principal ray of the vehicle. I think if one looks closely enough
and
finely enough at any vehicle, one can find moments when the individual
may be using any of the rays. We all have our fifth ray, fourth ray,
first ray, etc.
moments. But what is the "overall impression"? It is
a question of seeing
the forest and not worrying too much about the trees. The trees are,
of
course, there, and can be examined, but to do so prematurely may become
"be-wilder-ing" (the "Wild" in German is the forest,
and to be be-wild-ered
is to be lost in that forest.)
Before doing extensive writing work in astrology, I spent years just
dealing
with rays and ray assessment. We have the PIP and PIP II (of some "jump
off" utility), and we have the Seven Ray Seminars--with three days
of close
scrutiny, including drawing, moving, physiognomy and even a little palmistry,
which I found indicative. Also James Davis' thought the study of faces
is very important and in his Seven Faces of Man has given valuable tips
which we cannot ignore.
It is labor intensive to assess the rays. So many of DK's early students
were
sure they were upon a particular ray, when in fact they were upon another
-- often reversing soul and personality, or thinking the ray of the
present life was thus and so, when in fact it had been the pesonality
ray of the last life.
I guess, in assessing the rays:
1. I like to use myself as an instrument, trying to be accurately impressionable.
2. I like to study the life, the character, the mannerisms, the expressions, etc.
3. I like to study the face, body and hands (which are *not* just about
the
physical ray), and, of course, the *eyes*--the windows to the soul.
(If you
look at Billy Graham's eyes, and Hitler's--there is no question about
the
sixth ray, although it may be differently placed). There were/are both
fanatical.
4. I like to study the chart *while* (or shortly after) I open myself
to impression.
I think we need a lot of biographical work and to begin collecting it.
I
think we need to practice on ourselves and on each other--to sharpen
or
sensitize our impressionability. I think we need to give reasons why
we think
a ray is present, and try to be as precise as possible about those reasons.
And again--a few things to bear in mind:
1.For some, clear rays have not emerged. This may apply to personality
or
soul or both. They are not yet at that point of development and it is
no use
trying to push the case and find some quality which is just not emerging.
2.Rays may be present but weakly expressed. Thus they may be hard to
detect.
3. Rays may be present and strongly or sharply expressed.
4.The rays of one vehicle may be expressing strongly and the rays of
another
vehicle less strongly--but both are "there", and it simply
takes real skill
to overcome the uncertainty.
5. Everyone is a unique case, and the amount of fluctuation and change
within
an energy system is considerable. In all this flux, some abiding impressions
have to be extracted.
6.Rays may be in process of changing--so some of the former ray may
be
manifesting, and some of the ray in process of being newly established.
DK
cited a number of instances in which this was happening or should be
happening.
6. There is probably no way yet to confirm one's opinions about ray
structure, even if they are good opinions. Therefore, whatever we say
about
the rays of ourselves or others, should be backed up by very concrete
reasons, so if someone wishes to dispute us, they have something to
cite.
This way we sharpen the debate.
7. We cannot overburden the general public. The real story is complex
and in flux. They just need a few things to hold on to, a few "over-alls",
and to
see how these principal ray factors *interface* with the astrological
chart.
Shall we think of the rays as *interfacing* with the chart or as being
*generated by* the chart. I try to keep the rays of the vehicles (decided
upon by the soul long before birth occurred or a birth chart existed)
as
distinct from the ray potentials of the chart itself. I like to think
of the
rays in my right hand and the chart in my left. I do know that ray potentials
exist in the chart. Do these potentials reinforce or work against the
already
established rays of the vehicles? This is how I try to think. Sometimes,
when
the rays of the vehicles and the rays of the astrological factors in
the
chart coincide, then it is difficult to understand what is coming from
where!
For instance, I think Billy Graham would have been a sixth ray soul
no matter what his astrological chart might be, but since his chart
shows a Mars/Moon conjunction in Sagittarius with Aries rising, there
is a tremendous mutual reinforcement of these sixth ray factors--one
inherent and the other generated by the chart. Thus, I am, when I remember,
careful to think of interplay and try to keep separate the rays generated
within the chart and the rays of the vehicles.
Well, just a few more thoughts. I do think our intuition is stimulated
when
we hold what we know about the individual in one hand, and the astrological
chart in the other. Given a knowledge of the individual and a hypotherical
ray chart based on that knowledge, every astrological chart speaks
differently--different combinations will jump out and mean different
things
depending how sound may be our knowledge of the individual.
Unlike the approach of many astrologers who try to learn everything
about an individual from a chart--I think the more I know about a person,
the better and deeper I can read a chart. So probably, we should really
get to know all about our clients before going into the chart. The skeptics
will say we are cheating, but we know the game we are trying to play,
and the more we know the farther we can go.

World
Crisis September 2001
Michael D. Robbins
Dear Friends
of Humanity, Hierarchy and the Ageless Wisdom, I
would like to offer a few thoughts on esoteric issues which may underlie
the imminent world crisis. I will tabulate these thoughts numerically
for the sake of clarity and easier comprehension. In offering these
ideas, I wish to thank all the thinkers who, from various humanistic,
spiritual and esoteric perspectives, have contributed their illuminative
thought to the world group over the course of the last week.
1.
The soul ray of the planetary scheme known as Earth is the second Ray
of Love Wisdom.
2.
Presently, upon our little planet, there are momentous occurrences at
very deep spiritual levels. The following quotation from A Treatise
on Cosmic Fire, 384, illustrates this fact:
“It might here be stated in connection with the planetary Logos of our
scheme that:
a. He is in physical incarnation.
b. He is midway through His career upon the cosmic Path of Initiation,
and consequently is to take the fourth Initiation in this chain.
Well may this globe, therefore, be considered the globe of sorrow and
of pain, for through it our planetary Logos is undergoing that which
the mystic calls "the Crucifixion."
c. The cells in His body—those cells through which He feels, and senses,
and experiences,—are, in this world period, rent by pain and suffering,
for His is the consciousness at the centre of the Body, and theirs is
the capacity to suffer, so that by means of them He may learn the meaning
of systemic dispassion, be dissociated from all forms and material substance,
and upon the cross of matter eventually find liberation and the freedom
of the Spirit.”
3. We
see, therefore, that humanity (His “cells”) and the entire planet are
in the throes of a deep initiatory process originating on levels of
spiritual expression over which humanity has absolutely no control.
4. Through
this “crucifixion” or “renunciation” process, the Love-Wisdom soul
of our planet is in process of emergence. The emergence of true Love
requires the rending of the heart. The processes of the fourth initiation
are particularly related to the liberation of the energies of the heart
center or chakra. (cf. The Rays and the Initiations, 340)
5. During
the centuries marking the beginning of the Aquarian Age (the exact commencement
of which is stated by the Tibetan Teacher to occur in 2117) the Externalization
of the Hierarchy and the Reappearance of the Christ are the
two most important planetary events (really one event). The evolutionary
progress of humanity depends upon the successful accomplishment of the
Externalization and Reappearance.
6. The
Externalization and Reappearance are planetary processes which will
strongly promote the emergence of our planet’s second ray soul, and
the gradual control and redemption of the Earth’s materialistic third
ray personality by that soul. If our planet is eventually to become
a “sacred planet”, its second ray soul must, of course, dominate its
third ray personality.
7.
As a reflection of the planetary initiatory process, related initiatory
processes are occurring in the various kingdoms of nature.
8.
The human kingdom faces the imminent opportunity for the first initiation,
the “Birth of the Christ within the Heart”.
9. In
relatively large numbers, members of the human family will be experiencing
this “birth”, which means the growing influence and importance of the
soul in their lives. When soul energy (“Christ energy”, Love energy)
pours consistently through large numbers of people, the human kingdom
will enter a new and transformational phase of its long development.
The beauty of soul is on its way.
10.The
first initiation marks, really, a revolution in consciousness—a
deliberate (albeit gradual) turning away from the demands of the personality
and the attempt to fulfill the demands of the soul.
11.This
initiatory revolution comes at a dire cost to the form life (called
in the language of esotericism, the “lunar nature” or the “three lunar
vehicles”).
12.In
the tragic events of present days we may be witnessing a humanity that
is preparing (largely unconsciously) to pay that cost and pass
through the tests which precede the first initiation.
13.During
the first initiation process, two planets (both of them planets of the
first ray of Will and Power) are of great significance: Vulcan
and Pluto. The following quotation from Esoteric Astrology, 70,
articulates their significance:
“At the first initiation, the disciple has to contend with the crystallising
and destroying forces of Vulcan and Pluto. The influence of Vulcan reaches
to the very depths of his nature, whilst Pluto drags to the surface
and destroys all that hinders in these lower regions.”
14. Both
of these planets (related as they are to Shamballa) are drastic
in their effect, and hardly promote the comfortable continuation of
the status quo.
15.There
are many ways to interpret their meaning, but, in terms of the present
planetary crisis, Pluto represents the eruption of the lunar forces
connected with the past, and Vulcan represents growing power
and radiance of the solar forces, allied to the soul and the
spiritual will.
16. Although
every nation has its Plutonic and Vulcanian elements, the “terrorists”,
in their methods and objectives, are clearly most representative of
Pluto. They are, principally, fundamentalists. Fundamentalism,
when allied to the fanaticism of the sixth ray (the presumed soul ray
of the majority of those in the terrorist camp), is an extremely dangerous
combination.
17.Fundamentalism
is dangerous because it seeks to force humanity into subjugation
to lunar values. It represents a deliberate march backwards towards
a lunar past, and away from the solar possibilities of
the Aquarian Age. (I do not isolate Islamic Fundamentalism as the only
culprit; Christian or Jewish fundamentalism can be equally retrogressive.
There is also atheistic, ideological fundamentalism which has manifested
under Fascist and Communist regimes) Always fundamentalism (under the
pretense of returning to fundamental basics) seeks to eliminate imminent
evolutionary possibilities, especially of a truly spiritual nature.
18. We
are told the following by the Tibetan Teacher in Esoteric Psychology
I, 209.
“He must always have a ‘personal God,’ an incarnation of Deity to adore.
The best type of this ray makes the saint, the worst type, the bigot
or fanatic, the typical martyr or the typical inquisitor. All
religious wars or crusades have originated from sixth ray fanaticism.
The man on this ray is often of gentle nature, but he can always flame
into fury and fiery wrath. He will lay down his life for the objects
of his devotion or reverence, but he will not lift a finger to help
those outside of his immediate sympathies. As a soldier, he hates
fighting but often when roused in battle fights like one possessed.”
(Note this last sentence).
In this paragraph we clearly see the danger of narrowness, fanaticism
and religious fury in an age of atomic weapons and lethal poisons (Pluto,
again)
19. Pluto
is the ‘god of destruction’, and when allied to the sixth ray, at a
time when will force is dramatically stimulated because of the
Shamballic Impact and the Great Decision, can contribute to a war which
would mean the end of humanity.
“If none of these things happen, humanity is headed towards a religious
war which will make the past war appear like child's play; antagonisms
and hatreds will embroil entire populations and the politicians of all
the nations will take full advantage of the situation to precipitate
a war which may well prove the end of humanity. There are no hatreds
so great or so deep as those fostered by religion.” (Externalisation
of the Hierarchy, 545-546)
Those who wish to pursue this frightening prospect further can turn
to the pages indicated, and judge whether you think humanity has fulfilled
the Tibetan’s stated requirement to avoid such a war.
Even more dire is the following statement by the Tibetan telling us
what must be done following WW II.
“For two complete generations there must be a peace which will be unbroken,
because behind it and protecting it will stand the Armies of the Lord.
At the close of that time, if the educational work done has been adequate,
sane, wise and sound, then these Armies can rest from their labours
and the sword be turned into the ploughshare. If this program
of supervision, education and spiritual direction is not thus enforced,
the war that would then take place would wipe out humanity -- as happened
once before in human history.” (EXH 443)
We can all assess. Have there been two complete generations of unbroken
peace?
20.Thus
much for Pluto—“God of Death”.
21.Vulcan,
my friends, though not yet “discovered”, is the planet of Spiritual
Will, and “Vulcan and the Sun are one”.
22. Men
and women of goodwill all over the world need the power of Vulcan as
they have never before needed it.
23. Vulcan
must oppose and transmute Pluto. Light must oppose and transmute darkness.
The persistent Will-to-Good must oppose and transmute the will-to-power
and the will-to-destroy.
24.This
world crisis cannot be solved by love alone. Love united to Will is
required.
25. People
of goodwill everywhere must stand together under law, and potently
will the Good in Love.
26.
A great point of spiritual tension is now needed. This tension
must be held by every one of us and by all of us collectively.
27. Now
is the time to “fight fire with fire”. We must fight the dark Plutonic
fires, with the divine fire of the Will-to-Good and the Will-to-Love.
28. As
the second stanza of the Great Invocation states, humanity must “stand
with massed intent” and, united in love, united in the Will-to-Good,
will that the Plutonic forces (in no matter what nation
they may be found) be subdued, quieted and transformed. These forces
must not be allowed to thwart human progress and the Divine Plan.
29.
Men and women of goodwill, united with the Christ (the “Supreme Commander
of the Forces of Light”) and with His Hierarchy, can will
the Good into existence if their hearts are fiery enough.
30.Therefore,
my friends, during these next two weeks, prior to the Great Decision
Moment (the Libra Full Moon), I would suggest that we all, “with
massed intent”
a. Deliberately
and decisively invoke the all-consuming Love of the Heart of the Sun.
b. Deliberately
and decisively invoke the steadfast will of Vulcan, the planet of Spiritual
Will which I would call the ‘planet of the blinding and revealing light’
(directly related to the “unfettered enlightenment” of Shamballa.)
c.Deliberately
and decisively invoke Christ and His Hierarchy, standing with Them in
utmost solidarity.
d.Deliberately
and decisively love each other and humanity as potently and fierily
as we possibly can.
e. Deliberately
and decisively invoke the Will of God to be done on this little planet,
and resolve to sacrifice what we can and must (individually and as a
group within the New Group of World Servers) to see this Divine Will
expressed.
31. If
we work esoterically, spiritually, occultly, meditatively, prayerfully
in this manner, we will be doing all we can to help humanity decide
for Peace and not for war; decide for the Sun and not the Moon; decide
for Vulcan and not for Pluto; decide for Christ and His Hierarchy and
not for the forces which deliberately and with hateful intent, oppose
Them.
32. As
Winston Churchill said to the House of Commons immediately before the
Battle of Britain:
“Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty, and so bear ourselves
that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand
years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour’.”
As men and women of goodwill, as students of spirituality and esotericism,
and as those who love their fellow human beings, we can, in our own
ways, rise to the imminent global emergency, and do the same.
We do not face what Churchill faced. It may never become so bad. Or
it might become far worse.
33.Friends,
aligned with the Spiritual Hierarchy, and full of Love and Will, let
us act on the inner planes of life as if much depends on us.
It does!
Upon
reflection, I would like to add a few more thoughts relative to the
esoteric implications of the world crisis (physical, psychological and
spiritual) that we are now experiencing. Again, I ask your understanding
if
you receive this document more than once due to emailing list overlap.
The
attached file contains full formatting and is arranged for easier reading.
In the last email we explored the importance of the first ray planets
Vulcan
and Pluto in the process of Humanity's imminent first initiation. We
saw that
(although Vulcan can be substituted for the Moon) in the present world
events, Vulcan takes on a solar role, relating to the Will-to-Good and
Spiritual Will, and Pluto serves as a planet of karmic confrontation
with the
unredeemed lunar past. Now a few more thoughts to enrich the consideration.
1. The New Group of World Servers, mediating between Hierarchy
and Humanity, must play a pivotal role in bringing illumination, sanity
and perspective to the historical decisions which Humanity as a whole
is now making.
2. The New Group of World Servers (comprised of men and women
of goodwill of all nations, cultures and religions) is astrologically
ruled by Taurus, the "Mother of Illumination".
3. The NGWS is, therefore directly related to both Venus and Vulcan,
the two
planets which rule Taurus.
4. From Vulcan, the NGWS is inspired with "enlightened enthusiastic
will",
and the steadfast will to stand in love as the Divine Plan is manifested.
5. The Vulcanian forces of the NGWS must be willfully, lovingly,
understandingly and transformationally pitted against Plutonic terrorism.
6. All true disciples and spiritual workers in the world are necessarily
members of the New Group of World Servers. Our task, therefore is to
stand as
Taurean illuminators and with the steadfast, enduring will and "massed
intent" of Vulcan-in counterpoise to the forces of destruction.
7. I would now like to discuss Venus, which I did not do in my
last emailing.
8. The New Group of World Servers serves as the energy-directing
ajna
center within the sphere of manifestation of Sanat Kumara, the Lord
of the
World. In this perspective, Shamballa is the head center, Hierarchy
the heart
and Humanity the throat. The NGWS is a mediating center, standing between
heart and mind, and, as well, between the second ray (Hierarchy) and
the
third ray (Humanity).
9. Taurus is related to the ajna center and to the "Eye of
the Bull" (the
synthesizing "third eye" within the etheric head).
10. Venus is always considered the ruler of the ajna center (Esoteric
Astrology, 517)
11. Just as Vulcan and Pluto form a contending pair of forces within
the
present world crisis, so do Venus and Mars.
12. Venus represents the forces of the soul and the forces of the Christ
(call Him by whatever name we wish-Maitreya Buddha, the Imam Madhi,
Krishna, the Messiah, the World Teacher, etc.)
13. Venus is one of the major planets of "Love-Wisdom", and
is related to the
Christ, just as Mercury is the planet of "Mind-Wisdom" and
is related to the
Buddha.
14. Venus confers upon the New Group of World Servers, soul-comprehension
and soul-understanding.
15. Venus is definitely one of the major planets of the New Age (the
Age of
Aquarius) and will rule the last third of that Age about 1500 years
from
now-the Age of Brotherhood.
16. Mars, on the other hand, is most significantly the planet of the
sixth
ray- thoughts concerning which I quoted in my first letter.
17. Because of the Precession of the Equinoxes, the Age of Pisces, co-ruled
by the devoted, idealistic and often fanatical sixth ray, is fast fading,
and
the Age of Aquarius, co-ruled by the magical and transformational seventh
ray
is emerging into power.
18. Before the fading of every Precessional Age, the forces of the receding
Age will reassert themselves; they fear their inevitable decline. Similarly,
before each initiation, the forces inimical to that initiation will
rise to
challenge the forward progress of the would-be initiate.
19. In our present world situation, these two uprisings combine and
endanger
the spiritual progress of Humanity. Mars and the sixth ray become inflamed
with 'holy' wrath, and seek to destroy the newly emerging energies.
The
energies of Mars are, as far as Humanity is concerned, essentially "lunar",
and the triple lunar nature (aroused against the will of the soul) is
666,
the Number of the "Beast" and, as well, the number of Mars.
20. Not only must the energies of Pluto be transformed, as I discussed
in
Letter I, but the energies of Mars, as well, must be met, elevated and
transformed.
21. Mars represents the solar plexus of humanity. Many of the people
of the
Middle-East and related areas also represent the solar plexus of Humanity,
and the terrorists represent and inflammation of the solar plexus of
Humanity.
22. Just as Vulcan must subdue Pluto, so Venus (the planet of the soul
and of
Earth's future) must subdue Mars.
23. Venus is the symbol, among other things of womanhood, the Divine
Feminine. The fundamentalist forces (and especially those within Islam)
seek
to put "woman" in "her place"-a dark, unprivileged
and uneducated place.
Their retrogressive culture calls for the domination of Venus by Mars.
It is
an anti-hierarchical position, and cannot survive into the Aquarian
Age (an
Age in which Venus will be very important-being either a ruler of decanate
ruler in all of the air signs, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, which will
be
empowered during the Aquarian Age).
24. The New Group of World Servers, therefore, as they seek to "save"
this
potentially disastrous situation, must call upon the forces of both
Vulcan
and Venus-Will and Love.
25. Humanity is now challenged, from within itself, by the forces of
retrogression. These forces are fed by the so-called "Black Lodge",
the Lodge
of Materialism.
26. The Tibetan tells us that the "door where evil dwells"
was left partially
ajar when, after WWII, Palestine was partitioned. I do not wish to enter
into
the fervently felt pros and cons of this partition. I only with to state
that
a situation leading to aggravated and prolonged conflict was then
established, and is one of the contributing causes of the present world
crisis.
27. I do not want to call this problem, "The Jewish Problem",
though I
understand why the Tibetan did so, and I, myself, am a Jew. Rather,
I want to
call it "The Solar-Plexus Problem of Humanity".
28. Humanity must solve the problem of its aggravated and inflamed solar
plexus. Mars rules this solar plexus and Pluto, also, has a part to
play in
solar plexus dynamics. Mars and Pluto together, the sixth ray and the
first
ray, are the most violent combination of energies imaginable and must
be both
contained and transformed.
29. What faces Humanity is not only the transference of the sacral center
energy to the throat (found powerfully dynamic at the time of the first
initiation-imminent for Humanity), but also, and perhaps even more important
at this time-the transference of the solar plexus energy to the heart
center-the transformation from passion to compassion, and from desire
to love.
30. This transference is crucial and does not occur without suffering.
The
sixth ray, conditioning so many millions of people in this conflict,
unconsciously seeks martyrdom. Its way of progress is self-immolation;
this
we saw with the voluntary and fiery suicides of some nineteen airborne
terrorists. I am hoping it is not the case (as there are other wiser,
saner
and more beautiful ways of transformation) but it is possible that the
unconsciously impelled quest for martyrdom (coming at a time when the
sixth
ray is cycling out of incarnation-it will be out within 130 years, taking
the
majority of sixth ray souls with it) may become the means by which millions
of sixth ray souls would be unnaturally removed from incarnation and
the
extreme suffering of war would unite the heart of humanity. In the strange
alchemy of spiritual progress, both groups, apparently enemies, would
be
served. While this scenario is a possibility, it does not have to occur,
just
as the Second World War did not have to occur upon the physical plane.
31. The New Group of World Servers, under Taurus, Venus, Vulcan, and
the
righteously-compromising fourth ray of Harmony Through Conflict, now
has the
task of absorbing and transmuting the violent forces of Mars and Pluto.
Only
if they, aided powerfully by the Hierarchy, succeed, will Humanity progress.
32. Let us all resolve that it is unnecessary for Humanity to always
learn
its lessons the hard way-through war, pain and suffering. The fourth
ray can
work through Harmony (not only conflict) in this period of planetary
crucifixion (see Letter I).
33. At this Hour of Great Decision, let us, Brothers and Sisters, by
meditative means, draw as close to the Great Ashram of the Christ as
possible, and use all spiritual energies and forces at our disposal
(astrological, rayological and of the blended spirit/soul) to see Humanity
through this decisive moment in the history of the Human Race.
