Interesting to watch Australia's chart right now (25/4/98) with esoteric ruler of Asc, Mercury, having been retrograde these past few weeks during the wharfie's strike. (Mercury = transportation, strikes, shipping)

As Mercury went direct on Monday we saw the tensions at their peak. Mercury was within 17' of exact applying square to the Australian sun in Capricorn in the 9th.

The matter went before the High Court and a decision in favour of the wharfie's reinstatement was made at two sittings - the second yesterday (April 23) - with it held over pending a second appeal by the stevedoring company. transiting (T.) Mercury had moved up to exact square with 9th house sun.

DK's comments on this question of capital and labour come to mind : the work of one of the English Masters last century and the fundamental difference between earth and moon chain humanity.

Australia's Taurus moon reflects the wharfie's resistant stance as well as some of the inefficiencies and comforts which have crystallised and underlie the dispute.

Interesting to note that Neptune, God of the Waters (and shipping) waxes to conjunction with Australia's Aquarian MC, hopefully reflecting a fair humanitarian outcome for the ideals of all.

But it may have a way to go yet. T. Mars (and sun) will go over Taurus moon around May 10, as T. Saturn comes up to conjoin Aries Ascendant in late May. This conjunction of Saturn waxes on and off until Feb 1999, and should be a major opportunity for the soul expression of Australia to come forth, not just from this situation, but in many other areas.

One of the factors involved is the tensely aspected natal Mars in Virgo (Mercury ruled) in T square to Venus/Uranus and Pluto. These tensions were triggered when T. Node went over Mars in January, whilst T. Pluto started nudging a square to Mars in March, before going retrograde.

T. Pluto comes back to the full power of the waxing square to Mars in 1999-2000 - an appropriate time for the clearing of old adolescent patterns before we "come of age" at the Olympics.

T. Saturn catches up at the same time for a conjunction with natal moon in early 2000, so we should have plenty of fun and games so to speak.

On the sensitivity of transits to the Australian Capricorn sun : in 1975 just before the dismissal of the Whitlam government, "supply" (money) was blocked in Parliament. T. Pluto was closely square the sun. DK says in EA245 "Capricorn is the concrete expression of the Law of Supply".

Update 5/5/98

Yesterday's decision by the Supreme Court in favour of the wharfies' reinstatement is by no means over. I don't have the exact time of the news breaking but it was yesterday morning around 10 or 11 am.

There are still many thorny negotiations to go through over pay and reinstatement. Transitting Moon was exactly conjunct natal Vesta, which is in turn exactly square natal Taurus moon - so prominent in this dispute and a symbol of the wharfies - as mentioned in an earlier communication.

Vesta opposite Ceres in Australia's natal chart, Tsquare Taurus moon, and speak of this country's enormous wheat production and her natural resources in general. The dispute has cost many farmers time and money in delays on the docks for exports.

Vulcan, for what its worth (a la Weston) was exactly conjunct the Taurus moon yesterday. As esoteric ruler of Taurus it certainly helped to bring some illumination and moral victory.

Some Taurus moon/Vulcan words used by union leaders yesterday were : "David beats Goliath", "we hammered out a victory", "the union is your family and will look after you", "MUA here to stay" etc.

But, as noted last week, Mars has yet to transit over the moon – exactly on Wesak full moon ! This is as T. Saturn comes up to conjoin the Aries ascendant, which will be exact in a few weeks. So next week and the ensuing monthes after this full moon may see some more struggle if not outright violence.

Australia: Sydney - Solar Plexus

Sydney is undergoing its second water scare in as many weeks with some virulent bugs like cryptospiridium in the system. We have also had record amounts of rain and dams overflowing for the first time in years. (Jupiter Pluvius in Pisces - China floods etc)

The New South Wales chart makes a good alternative Australian chart – Feb 7, 1788 11 14 am Sydney - same Asc degree as Australian chart.

It has a spectacular stellium in the sign of the Water Bearer, Aquarius: Mercury, Moon, Pluto, Sun and Saturn in the 10th (Now there's some criteria recently discussed re Saturn/Sun/Moon)

Anyway, T. Neptune (God of the Waters/poisons and the solar plexus - ex/es) is conjunct the MC, of the NSW chart, and seems to be reflecting Sydney's role as the solar plexus centre of the British Commonwealth. Cryptospiridium and Guardia both affect the stomach in the solar plexus area.

As an outward reflection of an inner process, there may be some heavy duty psychic toxins we are processing right now. That would not be surprising, given the recent events in Ireland and India, fears about the Australian dollar crash, and the world generally.

Other interesting placements are Mars in Cancer, which I thought very appropriate for a solar plexus centre - it has moved by progression to within 4 degrees of conjunction with natal Neptune.

Australia's Indecent Assault
on her Farmers and Fishermen - Neptune

As Neptune still hangs around the MC of Australia's chart, two notable Neptunian themes are in the Australian news - sea fisheries and inland water resources.

The sea fisheries is a huge issue on several fronts. Firstly, the methods of modern "industrial fishing" with technology and great efficiency, are simply over-fishing very finite resources and causing environmental damage in many cases. Secondly, many countries are illegally poaching Australian waters, or catching more than allowable quotas. Thirdly, Tasmanian fishermen are at desperation point in trying to survive competetion from foreign imports in the salmon market.

Inland Water Supplies

For farmers in southern NSW, the release of water for their crops from the Kosciusko Dam, is getting equally as desperate as the plight of some fishermen. Ironically, this massive hydro electric scheme that has such a recently celebrated place in Australian folklore, is letting down farmers, the lifeblood of the nation.

Through greed and bureaucratic incompetence, the sale of water at outrageous prices has reached ludicrous proportions. The Snowy River itself is only trickling at 3% of its original flow, all but dried up. The farmers are not asking for much to be released, yet delays are driving these normally placid people to stronger and stronger protests - pleading for their livelihood.

Ironically, the Snowy River hydro scheme had its 50th anniversary recently, celebrating the synthesis of many cultures who came from Europe after World War Two, who managed to work together and become integrated into a new culture.

Murray-Darling Basin Salinity

The other inland water problem is the salinity crisis which affects the millions of acres that supply much food for Australians. The problem has been known of for years but is now reaching crisis point, where people are being forced to act. The crisis has been caused by incorrect agricultural practices since Australia has been settled, particularly indiscriminate logging and land clearing. In many areas this clearing is going on unabated as if there were no tomorrow.

It is interesting that Neptune, the God of the (salty) Oceans, is currently in Aquarius. The "cell salt" used in healing that corresponds to Aquarius is "Nat Mur" or sodium chloride - salt. The presence of salt in the body is directly related to water retention, a large component of the physical structure.

Hopefully this crisis will bring groups of individuals together (Aqaurius) to find solutions. The Taurus Moon of the Australian horoscope relates directly to this land of plenty. Transiting Saturn conjoins the Moon May 2000, and may well reflect the developing crisis in terms of crop failure. Part of the major problem, like the fishing problem discussed earlier, is the incorrect approaches to growing and harvesting - "monocultural mining" of the land that also causes many agricultural disease and pest problems.

Perhaps one of the solutions may be in a major cultural shift whereby people form themselves into co-operative communities (Aquarius), that can concentrate on quality organic farming and associated lifestyle. The pooling of resources would be enormously economically beneficial, as well as the associated deeper quality of life.

Un-Australian Australians

It seems that this Neptune transit over Australia's MC in Aquarius needs to awaken the nation to some of the gross injustices being done to Australians by Australians. When we cut through our myths and our sense of national pride, there are some very ugly sores on Australia's underside.

With Neptune as ruler of the 11th house of friends and groups, there may be developed a greater sense of working together, a deeper understanding and demonstration of "mateship" and "a fair go" that we so often pride ourselves upon.

There are many examples of cynical and pitiful rip-offs by government and major corporations and companies (Aquarius/Ray 7 - large organisations and finance), of ordinary Australians and collective resources, for individual or corporate gain.

For instance, the major four Australian banks do not seem to have any sense of moral responsibility, in terms of ploughing back enormous profits into the wellbeing and welfare of Australia. There is plenty of cynical lip service paid, and sponsorship only when there is reciprocated high profile free advertising, yet nothing truly given from the heart. There is a major dis-connectedness between Australians in this respect.

Major communication and electric power utilities act in a similar fashion - it seems there are no bounds to their avariciousness.

A similar thing is happening with media juggernauts taking over local football teams for profit, destroying needlessly a sense of identity within local communities.

At the end of the day, the ordinary Australian, humble and economically modest, simple and salt of the earth, the very essence of Australia, is being treated very badly by his so-called fellow Australians.

The gap between rich and poor deepens and widens, with those who have not, thirsting vainly for that which others have. There is a degree of utter disregard of many people for one another, a sense of smug self-satisfaction that reeks from squadrons of expensive four wheel drive and luxury cars - and endless shopping, shopping, shopping........we are due for a wake-up call and the full moon in Taurus may precipitate events that have been building up since the grand cross in the August 11, 1999 eclipse.

This materialistic bias is well represented in the Australian horoscope by the Taurus Moon in the first house. It represents acquisition and comfort and is the inertia which holds Australians back. The sesquiquadrate aspect from the Moon to Saturn in Capricorn in the 9th house, reinforces with an earthy conservatism and a certain moral justification.

The 11th house, an area that relates to corporations, is ruled by Neptune, which is in Gemini, exactly opposed by Mercury. This opposition can express itself as corporate deception and manipulation, particularly by media groups.

Australia - Aviation Fuel Contamination

Many of the articles written above on Australia recently have focussed upon the extraordinary presence of transiting Neptune sitting on the midheaven of the nation's horoscope. This is no less so with the incredible saga of the contamination of fuel for light aircraft that has had a crippling effect on the industry.

Neptune rules oil and fuel traditionally, as well as aviation, along with Uranus. Neptune's transit through Uranus-ruled Aquarius has bought these elements together in an unfortunate combination.

As in the above articles, it is the workers again who are at the mercy of this situation, highlighting the energy of Aquarius as a focaliser for fairness in industrial matters and disparities between capital and labour.

Burma and Aung Sun Suu Kyi

Kyi's birthplace seems to be a suburb of Rangoon, according to the coordinates of ACS atlas - it is spelt Myaungmya 16n36, 94e56.

Some insights can be had with her natal Saturn in Cancer exactly opposite Burma's Sun in Capricorn and square Burma's Neptune.

Interesting her (out of element) Sun square Neptune (democratic ideals) in contrast to Burma's Capricorn sun square Neptune (deceptive control and manipulation). Our own challenges are mirrored within the greater body within which we find ourselves.

Suu Kyi's Saturn in Cancer sure brings to mind DK's quote in EA on sacrifice. She is definitely the mother of democracy for Burma, its just a matter of gestation at the moment. There are many Boddhisattva qualities to this woman that are worth studying.

Update 30/7/98
While most of the western world is probably more interested in Bill Clinton's sex life, or how much money they are going to make out of third world countries like Burma, Aung Sun Suu Kyi makes a lone and virtually unnoticed stand for democracy against Burma's military.

She has been held captive in her car in the middle of a bridge, apparently without food or water for 6 days. So what does her chart say ? Unfortunately there is no time available yet, but some basic progressions and transits can be seen. June 19, 1945 Myaungmya, Burma 16n36, 94e56.

Mars squares Pluto natally - this pattern is being triggered from both sides by transitting Sun and Saturn.

Transitting Sun over natal and SP Pluto may certainly point (exoterically) to a life and death situation over the next day or two.

Transitting Saturn is conjunct her Mars, slowing down to stationary before going retrograde.
Transitting Mars over her progressed Saturn (and squaring natal Moon) between now and Monday also looks severely testing.

Another Sun/Saturn connection is SP Sun exactly semisextile SP Saturn which squares her natal Libran Moon - which in many ways reresents her fight for democracy.

Her natal Saturn in Cancer is exactly opposite Burma's Sun in Capricorn and square Burma's Neptune. Her (out of element) Sun square Neptune (democratic ideals) is in contrast to Burma's Capricorn Sun square Neptune (deceptive control and manipulation). May her struggle be undismayed.

China and Taiwan

In the chart for China (Oct 1, 1949 3 15 pm, Peking) I mentioned recently the full moon eclipse from July 28, 1999 at 4Aquarius58 - right on China's Aquarian Moon and Ascendant. Her latest sabre rattling exercise with Taiwan is more of the polarity of Mars conjunct Pluto in Leo in the 7th house square to Venus in Scorpio in the 9th.(A semi mutual reception)

Transiting Saturn is almost opposite Venus too, but does not come back to exact until April/May 2000. Progressed Mars also conjoins Saturn.

At the solar eclipse of August 11, China's natal Mars was exactly squared by Uranus, ruler of the Aquarian placements. The issue with Taiwan is a classic Leo/Aquarius dilemma. Taiwan has her own individuality that she wants to keep, and China wants to take her back into the community (communism) of kingdoms by force.

It is very interesting that her Moon in Aquarius may represent her old style of communism, which is being gradually eroded away by Neptune's exact transit over that point this year.

So as she may feel a distinct lack of identity, China's point of least resistance right now is to achieve a sense of identity which Mars in Leo represents. Mars is also conjunct Dubhe: "The Pointer nearest to the Pole Star is expressive of a lower aspect of the will, which—in speaking of humanity—we call self-will." (EA196)."this Pointer and the energy emanating from it guides humanity upon the involutionary path, and is constantly active in its influence upon the man who is still upon the Mutable Cross." - (EA196)

So is China in her current incarnation on the mutable cross?

China's Pluto is conjunct Merak: "The Pointer furthest from the Pole Star in the constellation of the Great Bear. This is, esoterically speaking, a great reservoir or focal point for divine energy, carrying out God's purpose.(EA196) "Then the energy of the Pointer furthest from the Pole Star begins to make its presence felt and a sense of right direction or guidance is registered by the disciple upon the Path, and such guidance (when followed) leads man nearer to the Hierarchy."

For a China's ray 1 soul, will and purpose are most important. Is China on the Path or close to it? As a Libran Sun, has she the opportunity of "reversing the wheel" in this incarnation?

Transiting Mars has just triggered Venus in Scorpio on Monday when China had the biggest parade of military equipment not seen since 1989.

Right now China is in her progressed balsamic moon phase with prog. Moon at 25Scorpio40, prog. Mercury at 26Scorpio31, and prog. Sun at 27Scorpio31. Transiting Chiron has just passed over exact conjunction with prog. Sun.

In the next 6 weeks prog. Moon will go over prog. Mercury and reach exact new moon phase when it conjoins prog. Sun.

Perhaps more importantly, transiting Mars will go over all the progressed planets in Scorpio.

Also, in the next 30 hours, transiting Moon will trigger all those natal and progressed planets in Scorpio.

China's invasion of Taiwan is not a matter of if but when. This may pose some very tricky questions for the West, particularly America.

In light of the above it is possible that something may happen in the next 10 days to 6 weeks.

If it does not, then something has to give by Wesak 2000, where the full moon will be exactly on China's prog.Sun, transiting Saturn, Jupiter and Venus will all oppose natal Venus, and transiting Uranus will square the lot.

There is also alot of synastry natally and by progression between America and China, America having just finished her progressed balsamic moon phase. Their respective progressed Sun/Moon phases will always square each other.

The current East Timor crisis is reflected in the horoscopes of Timor and Indonesia.

Timor is an Aquarius rising with a Sun/Neptune conjunction in Sagittarius – she is highly idealistic about attaining her liberation and freedom.

Transiting Pluto has been conjunct her Sun these past couple of years, causing the upheaval through which the country as been going. Pluto has now moved to a conjunction of the midpoint of the natal Sun/Neptune conjunction.

Transiting Uranus has also been squaring Timor’s progressed Venus in Scorpio, challenging her to transform and regenerate her relations within herself and to other countries such as Indonesia.

Timor’s progressed Venus makes an exact T-square to Indonesia’s natal Pluto opposition Venus, reflecting the control and manipulation that the latter has exercised over the former.

The position of progressed Venus in Scorpio and natal Uranus in Scorpio point to the depth of intensity in this conflict, as well as the merciless killing that has occurred.

Currently transiting Jupiter, soul ruler of the Aquarian ascendant, is opposed to natal Uranus in Scorpio and squares Indonesia’s progressed Venus/Moon.

Indonesia’s natal Venus has been stirred up and activated by transiting Uranus these past 12 monthes, with an exact conjunction during the August eclipse.

Her progressed Venus and Moon at 3Aquarius00 were also eclipsed in late July 1999. (This is the same degree of China’s natal Moon and Ascendant – see China article)

This progressed Venus/Moon of Indonesia happens to square Timor’s natal Uranus, ruler of the Aquarian ascendant. So the theme of freedom in relationships, liberation and autonomy are repeated in several areas.

Further to that, Indonesia’s progressed Sun is making an almost exact applying conjunction to Timor’s ascendant. It is moving out of Timor’s 12^th house of karmic ties and imprisonment into the new light of day of the first house. Timor’s Aquarian ascendant is being triggered into rebellion and revolution by Indonesia’s progressed Sun as well as all the above-mentioned factors.

Timor’s progressed Sun is also exactly opposite natal Mars in Gemini and square natal Moon in Virgo, reflecting the challenge to break ties with the past. The natal Moon square natal Mars is another significator of the volatile nature of Timor.

Yet Indonesia’s Mars in very early Libra sits right on Timor’s Moon in very late Virgo, and is expressed currently with the Indonesian military doing a Libran fence-sitting exercise – simply watching as the pro-Indonesia armed gangs create anarchy.

The Mars of Indonesia’s chart is part of a quite aggressive grand cross: Mars square Sun in Capricorn which opposes Uranus, squaring Moon in Aries. It was this force that was behind the taking over of East Timor in 1976, which the UN says was illegal.

At that time Indonesia was just starting to go through her progressed lunar return in Aries and had progressed Sun at 2Aquarius46, very close to where her progressed Moon/Venus are now. Indonesia has a Moon/Mars oppostion and Timor a Moon/Mars square – both Mars’ are currently triggered.

The media are saying that this could be one of Australian prime minister John Howard’s greatest tests, as he may be forced to commit troops (without USA’s backing) and with the very real possibility of engaging the Indonesian army. This has been a scenario for quite a while and looks like now being forced out into the open.

Howard’s progressed Sun (29Virgo51) sits just between Timor’s Moon (29Virgo31) and Indonesia’s Mars (0Libra28). Of course it also squares Timor’s progressed Sun/natal Mars square Moon.

Howard’s natal Sun (1Leo49) is exactly conjunct Timor’s progressed Saturn (1Leo45). His Sun/Pluto conjunction in Leo makes a strong square to Saturn in Taurus – he usually errs upon the side of caution and is slow to act, but can be most persistent.

It will be interesting to see how the ultra conservative Howard deals with this situation as there is much pressure upon him to make a decision. Let us hope it is a true statesman-like decision and not like the economically driven weak responses we have seen with China lately – who happen to be on their first major state visit to Australia at this moment.

Howard’s natal Moon in late Scorpio sits on Timor’s MC and his progressed Moon is in early Aquarius conjunct Indonesia’s progressed Moon/Venus. He certainly seems like a man who has a date with destiny.

Australian politicians have been dragging their heels on this issue and it is now probably the time for a reckoning, given Australian involvement since before 1975. Australia may be forced to take responsibility now for what she has failed to do in the past, in terms of support for her young neighbour, as well as the lack of action around the disappearance and murder of Australian journalists in 1975.

Karmically speaking it is the West’s responsibility per se, with many countries being involved in Timor since the 1500’s – the Dutch, Portugese, French and British.

At this time, 2000 Australian troops stand by to spearhead a UN peace-keeping force in the next 48 hours. Australia’s ascendant is in late Aries (conjunct Howard’s Saturn) and part of her dharma is about demonstrating leadership within the family of nations.

Australia’s horoscope has Saturn in Capricorn only 2 degrees from Indonesia’s Sun. Chiron in very late Sagittarius sits on Timor’s progressed Sun. Howard’s progressed Saturn straddles Australia’s Aries ascendant. Let us see what unfolds in the destiny of these nations.

India and Pakistan

Pakistan and India Aug 15, 1947 0 00 am - Karachi and Delhi respectivley.

These two charts are almost identical, the risng signs varying only for the longitude at partitioning of these countries. The Gemini rising qualities of India certainly reflect these "quarrelling brothers". Pakistan with Taurus rising at 17Tau32, had the Wesak full moon and Mars, fall right on it.

Both countries share Venus as a common ruler - Pakistan exoterically and India esoterically - and of course, for both of them Venus is in Leo, along with four other planets. Venus is closely conjunct Saturn and Pluto, both planets of control and power - they in turn are just being opposed by the planet of revolution - Uranus.

The component of the fanatical 6th ray is a big factor with both these countries - as witness the three major wars this century with each other, and the Islam/Hindu conflict. The reactivity of the the 6th ray and Gemini, is shaping up as a very dangerous and unpredictable situation - that could have a domino effect upon the whole subcontinent, if China, Iran and other
middle Eastern countries choose to weigh in. The middle east in particular is also big on the 6th ray - as is the US - trying to mediate its way through all this. So is this a last gasp for the outgoing 6th ray ?

So whats being triggered in these countries' charts ?

Wesak Full Moon T-squares natal Sun exactly. Moon in Scorpio and T. Chiron in Scorpio, both conjunct natal I & P Jupiter. (Note Indonesia's transit on natal Jupiter)

Natal Jupiter in 6th ray Scorpio squares natal Venus and Sun. Venus is the planet in common with the rising signs of both countries. (Again, Venus activity similar to Indonesia)

Sun in Leo (and all the other planets) square Jupiter is a great recipe for a swollen ego hung up on self aggrandisement and desire for power. Hence the reactivity to each other and the tit for tatting - where will all that end ?

Sun in Leo is ruled esoterically by the other ray 6 planet Neptune - hence the challenge with Sun square Jupiter to manifest as Peacemaker (Neptune) or Warmonger (Mars).

Interesting that the CIA, caught flat footed, was founded very close to India/Pakistan date - sept 26, 1947. Interesting synastry, though it is probably peripheral to the main theme here.

CIA Mars exactly on I & P Moon in Cancer, and Moon in Aquarius exactly opposite I & P Sun. Perhaps more importantly, their Scorpio rising/Chiron is square Mercury/Pluto in I & P - they were outfoxed by India. The sun square Jupiter in Scorpio can also be very devious, bringing into square the CIA moon at 20Aquarius.

Data for the test according to David is 3 45 pm, cast for Pokaran 26n55, 71e55 - (May11,1998), gives 4Lib10 rising with Venus in Aries opposite, trine to Pluto in Sag.
May Libra the Peacemaker win out!

Pakistan

Recently I discussed Pakistan's chart in relation to India and the August eclipse. I was looking at the partition charts of 1947.

In light of the recent coup, I noticed that some 1947 planets were being activated, such as transiting Mars opposing Uranus. However, the Pakistan Republic chart of 1956 seems to have more going on in it and hence is probably a truer chart. (March 23, 1956, 7 05 am Karachi)

Sun is in Aries and Aries rising, with ruler Mars in Capricorn conjunct the MC square the Aries Ascendant. This chart has aspects about it not unlike Indonesia's chart - in terms of power, will and force.

There is Moon, Jupiter and Pluto conjunct in Leo echoing her 1947 chart. In the 1956 chart, Moon in Leo exactly squares Venus in Taurus, making it challenging for her in her relations around power to others.

Natal Venus at 17Taurus and progressed Sun at 15Taurus00 were conjoined bySaturn in the August eclipse at 17Taurus. Taurus relates to the power of Ray 1 and the Shamballa force.

Now transiting Saturn at 15Taurus26 is retrograding back over progressed Sun at 15Taurus06. It will be interesting to watch timing of events.

The Venus natal trine to Mars and transiting Saturn's restraining influence may account for the "bloodless coup". India is understandably very uneasy about the situation, as the coup leader is a major proponent of aggression toward India.

Mars is currently everywhere in Pakistan's chart. Progressed Mars at 13Aquarius01 currently has a separating square to it from progressed Sun, and an applying square from transiting (R) Saturn.

Transiting Mars today (Oct 15) is opposite progressed Venus in Gemini. It will be interesting to see what happens by October 20 when transiting Mars squares Pakistan's Sun in Aries in the 12th house.

At the same time the transiting Sun in Libra will be conjoining Neptune in the 7th house. Let us hope that Libra the Peacemaker prevails and that deception is not the rule.

The Aries Sun in the 12th house makes a precise trine to Saturn in Sagittarius. Currently transiting Chiron sits right on top of Saturn, triggering the trine. This may be a positive stabilising factor. It certainly reflects the (ray 6) high idealism and fanatical Islamic dominating religion of this country.

With transiting Pluto conjoined the north node in Sagittarius, one would hope that there is effected a breaking down of religious fundamentalism, but it could just as easily fuel extreme militancy.

Hopefully also, Chiron's conjunction to Saturn can assist them to go beyond their ring pass not regarding crystallised religious and political ideas. Perhaps this aspect was behind the coup.

However the most disturbing aspect is the station of transiting Uranus on progressed Mars in Aquarius for around the next six to eight weeks - up to mid December 1999. At the same time Pluto transits the north node in Sagittarius in the eighth house. Let us see what unfolds.

As you have probably noticed, the Noel Tyl chart would put transiting (T.) Pluto appropriately on the descendant. The bushfires for the past year have certainly reflected the burning ground that this soul is embarking upon.

There's alot of militant ray 1 energy with Sun in Capricorn square Moon in Aries opposite Mars in Libra - part of a grand cross with Uranus in Cancer. The t-square also reflects militant Islam dominating Indonesia, and the inflexibility of a Capricorn sun (government).

With SR Venus at 3Aqu47, there is also SP Venus at 4Aqu06 and T. Neptune at 2Aqu08 - all conjunct natal Jupiter at 5Aqu28. Jupiter in Aquarius in the 9th is intimately associated with newer and fairer ethics that provide a blueprint for new laws - and a new government to implement them.

SR and SP Venus relates to Gemini Asc and the possibility of her invoking higher soul powers. Therefore its action (Venus) on natal Jupiter should release some of the tension on the aforesaid Tsquare, particularly as Jupiter forms an "easy oppostion" to the T square. Interestingly, SP Jupiter now conjoins natal Venus in Aquarius in the 9th. Pluto too, sextiles Jupiter and opposes ascendant.

Personality ruler of Gemini rising, Mercury, is by progression at 28Cap48, being squared by T. Saturn at 27Ari18. In the past few days since Wesak, T. Mercury has been conjunct T. Saturn, acting as a short term trigger for events.

Speaking of Jupiter in the 9th, Soeharto said "If I am no longer trusted, I will become a "Pandito" (sage) and endeavour to get closer to God." From Bandito to Pandito, I'd like to see that!

Turkey Earthquake 1999

DK gives Turkey as ruled by Cancer at a soul level and Scorpio at a personality level. The Oct 29, 1923 chart (Ankara 8 30 pm) has a Scorpio Sun and Cancer rising.

This seems to be one of the first world events to be triggered by the Aug 11 eclipse which conjoined Turkey's Neptune; and exactly squared Turkey's Venus in Scorpio ; transiting Mars had just passed over Venus at the time of the quake.

Some reports say this was the strongest quake felt this century (in Turkey per se) with over 3000 dead so far. The transit of the Moon at 0Scorpio42 conjunct prog. Saturn at 1Scorpio38 is pause for deep reflection in terms of the role of the office of the Manu and Lords of Karma. The epicentre in Izmit is right on a fault line.

So what is Turkey's lesson here? As a Cancer rising has she experienced this catastrophe (of thousands of destroyed houses) so that her inhabitants develop more of a nurturing and protective attitude toward one another?

Remember soul ruler Neptune was the planet eclipsed. Is there some specific Scorpionic type of karma working out here? The first ray energy of Pluto via the aforementioned Scorpio trigger points, brings to mind DK's statement:

"I would point out that Ataturk, the Turkish dictator, within certain personality limitations of relatively negligible moment, made good use of first ray energy, and only the testimony of future historical records will indicate fully how wisely, sanely and disinterestedly he used this type of force for the attainment of first ray objectives. They may and often do misuse the energy available but they also use it constructively within the desired limits of the immediate plan. It is wise and valuable to remember this. They are powerful, these disciples of Shamballa, headstrong and often cruel; they impose their will and dictate their desires; they make mistakes but they are nevertheless true disciples of Shamballa and are working out the Will of God as much as the disciples and Masters of the Hierarchy are working out the Love of God." DK does not give the rays for Turkey, perhaps Ray 1 is one of them as expressed by this leader. DK's reference to Shamballa is another reminder of this enormous force that is welling up and waxing stronger for the next 9 monthes at least - culminating in the Shamballa impact of the Taurus full moon, May 2000.

We may have experienced it before, but in a sense our knowledge of its impending impact helps to invoke it - and also having to deal with those consequences!

Aquarian Full Moon 2001
Bush, Sharon, Israel

The forces involved with this full moon are quite extraordinary. The Sun in Aquarius is very closely conjoined by its ruler Uranus, (and more widely by Mercury) and both oppose the Moon of course. This opposition is squared from both sides by Saturn’s opposition to Mars.

Therefore the Grand Cross at this full moon festival consists of Sun, Moon, Uranus, Mercury, Saturn and Mars. I see it as a rather critical configuration because of several factors.

The solar eclipse chart of August 1999, which still has a lasting impression in the ethers, is aspected strongly by this chart. The Moon in Aquarius 2001 for instance, is virtually at the same degree as the Sun/Moon conjunction in August 1999.

Because the August 1999 eclipse has close synastry with the eclipse of February 2000, and the Wesak full moon of 2000, so does this Aquarian full moon of 2001 with all of them. The synastry mainly has to do with points of the fixed cross squaring and opposing each other in successive charts.

Therefore there is a strong possibility that this horoscope will precipitate a powerful world (personal) crisis, as it has come in a long line of similar patterns.

The Aquarian full moon chart has much of a positive nature going for it. The Sun/Uranus conjunction can certainly foster a sense of brotherhood, sharing and creative solutions. However, it can also create erratic/eccentric behaviour in those not so attuned to its vibrations, giving an egotistical, self-centered expression.

Esoteric ruler of Aquarius, Jupiter, ruler of Ray 2 of Love-Wisdom, is placed in the Ray 2 sign of Gemini, giving an opportunity for deep heart-centered dialogue and communication. In the horoscope set for New York and therefore the Western world, Sagittarius is rising, with Jupiter on the 7^th house cusp of relationships – and open enemies.

Jupiter is set at a point of tension from its square to Mercury in the last degree of Aquarius, an ‘out of element’ square that puts both planets in air signs. This is quite complimentary and injects some harmony into the square. Overall this is a very powerful aspect for positive change, as long as the powers that be rise to the challenge.

Another important consideration of the Aquarian festival is that it is intimately linked to Sirian energies, via its polarity of Leo (Dog Star/August etc). Ray Five of Aquarius, coupled with Ray Two of its soul ruler Jupiter reflect the intrinsic relationship between our Solar Logos and Sirius.

Moon in Leo in the ninth house of the New York chart will hopefully instill a sense of ethics and principles into any debate.

The real tension in this chart comes from the Saturn in Taurus opposition to Mars in Scorpio. This opposition was present in the aforementioned charts, and exoterically has much to do with squabbles over land ownership, money and the fair distribution of wealth (Saturn), bare-faced aggression and ruthless tactics (Mars).

Esoterically it has more to do with the control of desire through mental discipline and the acquisition of spiritual knowledge/understanding.

So this grand cross represents an equally large challenge to Humanity as a whole, as well as the aspirants and disciples of the world, both groups ruled over to some degree by the Taurus/Scorpio axis.

Turning now to world events, there are some very interesting things happening in the USA and Israel’s charts. Both countries have (or are about to) acquired leaders of the conservative hawkish kind.

USA

USA’s Moon at 27Aquarius10 has a very close conjunction of USA’s progressed Sun waxing to exact in the next 12 months. The natal Moon sits in a very tight triangle with USA Sun square Saturn. Both Saturn and the Sun sesquiquadrate back to Moon.

Sun in Cancer square Saturn in Libra has much to do with issues of control in relationships with the rest of the world, in terms of its own local environment and self-interests (Moon in third house). It is also about her preoccupation with the law and endless litigation. Sun square Saturn is about the USA’s prison system/business and its hardline ‘three strikes and your out’ policy.

The Law is obviously an important challenge as the (Ray 2 soul) USA is the champion of freedom (Sirius/Uranus) and democracy (Ray 2) for the West.

So these issues will be triggered over the next 12 months, and Mercury in the 2001 Aquarian full moon chart is closely conjoining the USA’s Moon and progressed Sun. Hence the importance of the aforementioned Mercury square Jupiter in the full moon chart – right communication on behalf of the brotherhood of humanity.

George W. Bush

President Bush (6 July 1946) currently has his progressed Mercury conjoining natal Venus at 21Leo00, Venus being the dispositor of his Libran Moon – a large factor in his popularity, and that which is probably behind his “compassionate” political angle.

The Sun/Uranus conjunction of this full moon exactly opposes Bush’s Venus (and progressed Mercury) whilst transiting Saturn squares his Venus. The new president will be shortly put through his paces!

Bush’s Moon is conjunct the USA Saturn in Libra, and his Sun is conjunct the USA Sun in Cancer. In other words, the unresolved tension of his Sun square Moon fits right over the unresolved tension of USA’s Sun square Saturn.

Bush will be undergoing his progressed Moon return in the next few weeks (progressed Moon conjunct Moon). It is in orb now, so will be triggering natal Moon. Bush’s progressed Mars is also conjoining natal Moon for the next few years, but his solar arc Venus (13Libra00) is at the same degree, so hopefully we will see some Libran restraint instead of Mars aggression.

Israel

Israel’s progressed Sun is conjunct the USA/Bush natal Suns. In a few months time the progressed new Moon (Sun/Moon conjunction) will occur at the same degree. The next few months of this progressed balsamic phase (which they have been in for several months already) could be a time of real darkness and uncertainty for the Israeli people. It is the darkest time of the lunar cycle and also brings with it the process of initiation through the tests that are applied.

The tranisting Moon’s north node will also conjunct this degree in the next two weeks. Perhaps the line-up will reflect Sharon’s election win and his alignment/interaction with the conservative USA government.

This Aquarian full moon falls on Israel’s progressed Saturn in the 7^th house. Sun/Uranus opposing will certainly give Saturn a shake-up – i.e. Israel’s relations to the rest of the world.

Progressed Saturn in Israel’s chart squares natal Sun at 23Taurus00 – which took a pounding from several planets at the Wesak Shamballa impact last year: A Ray One race (Jews are Ray 1 soul) gets a Ray One impulse.

Transiting Saturn, a planet intimately connected to the Jewish race (Jehovah etc), is now sitting on Israel’s Sun, reflecting the free choice and opportunity the Israelis can now make to define their identity.

Ariel Sharon

The Israeli’s have chosen, and Ariel Sharon (27 Feb 1928) is now boss. He has a Pisces Sun, Taurus Moon and Aries rising.

Jupiter and Uranus in Aries are conjunct the rising sign. Exoteric ruler Mars is in the last degree of Capricorn, exalted and elevated in this horoscope, hence very powerful for this military trained and conditioned person. Interesting that his name Ariel intimates his rising sign Aries.

Of most concern is Sharon’s moon at 25Taurus35, at the point of a T-square from Neptune and Mercury. The Taurus Moon is closely conjunct Israel’s Sun and therefore all the aforementioned synastry and transits – particularly that of Saturn sitting on Sharon’s moon for three or four more weeks.

The Taurus moon reflects one of his appelations as the “pragmatic bulldozer”. It also speaks of his ruthlessness combined with Ray One Aries, and another of his names “The Butcher of Lebanon”.

The massacre of refugees in Beruit in late 1983 early 1984, for which he was held indirectly responsible, happened just after Sharon’s progressed moon return, when the progressed moon was at 29Taurus trining his natal Mars.

Sharon’s Taurus Moon on Israel’s Sun here represents a vote by the nation for the past (Sharon has been called a relic) – a past which includes military glory, the use of force, sheer stubborness and national pride. Leonine pride is demonstrated through Israel’s Moon conjunct Pluto in Leo, with Saturn and Mars here also.

Israel’s Mars in Leo will be exactly squared by 2001 Aquarius full moon, triggering off Mars’ natal square to Israel’s Scorpio midheaven – also Mars/Pluto ruled.

Added to this is the synastry with the previously described USA and Israel.

Sharon’s Pluto sits on USA and Bush’s Sun, hence becoming an extremely pervasive force to be reckoned with. Sharon distrusts the US and was rejected by both the Bush (Snr) and Reagan administrations.

Sharon’s progressed Sun at 19Taurus15 is being precisely squared by this Aquarius full moon. His Neptune sits on Israel’s Mars.

Sharon’s Aries rising soul ruler, Mercury in Pisces, opposes Neptune in Leo, forming the T-square to the Taurus Moon. The aforesaid negative traits of Sharon are not just the Taurus moon, but its part of the Mercury/Neptune configuration. This T-square can be interpreted as extremely manipulative and deceptive, especially with Mercury in the 12^th house.

This synopsis is meant to be impartial, even though it may sound a little “anti” in some areas. It is not for me to judge these entities, just observe and lay out some facts. However, history has judged some of them already thus far, and unless miracles happen overnight, some things will stay the same – with the corresponding predictable results.
