Tail of Two Lions
In
2002 there is a Leo ‘blue moon’,
two Leo full moons occuring in July and August. This happens reasonably
rarely, hence the expression ‘once in a blue moon’. As Leo is a particularly
potent month for the influences of Sirius, there should be an extraordinary
flowing through of these forces: Sirius is of course the source for that which is translated as Love-Wisdom in this solar system, the indigo blue of Ray Two. The Solar Logos of our solar system is esoterically known as the “Blue Logos”, and it is said that all his perfected ‘children’ resemble him when their third eye has reached a certain hue of blue. Our solar logos is developing ‘lion-like’ qualities: “A solar Logos is … a Dragon of Wisdom, and His problem concerns itself with the development of the principle of cosmic Will which will make Him what has been called a "Lion of Cosmic Will." [2] The ‘greater Lodge’ on Sirius has its reflection and ‘mode of spiritual service on this planet as The ‘Great White Lodge’ or the Masters of Wisdom. The Hierarchy of Masters work through a triangle of energies between Sirius, Leo and Jupiter. Jupiter is the co-ruler of Ray Two, along with the Sun, which is also ruler of Leo. Even though the ‘new world religion’ has not yet been established, many groups of disciples upon the planet have been invoking the energies of Sirius quite consciously over the last several decades. This is part of the externalisation process of the Hierarchy, as those aspirants and disciples are members of the ashrams of the Masters. This process is now accelerating with recent events in the world: The fifth Shamballa impact in 2000, the Masters ‘Decision’ of 2001, preceded by a few weeks with the events of September 11. Therefore the two full moons of Leo in 2002, will compliment this ‘quickening’ time. There is a double opportunity to contact the Hierarchy and for The Christ and the Masters to reach down to their incarnate ashramic members, to bring about a further consolidation of Divine Purpose. If we consider Jupiter in the first Leo full moon chart, it is conjunct the Sun, giving both Ray Two rulers much power. Whilst the Sun is in early Leo, Jupiter is in late Cancer, the place of its exaltation. Jupiter in Cancer relates to the Love and Wisdom expressions of Ray Two, that connect to the spirit and form respectively. This is the soul’s intent, as the mediating principle between spirit and matter. The analogy could be extended to the Hierarchy as mediator between Shamballa and Humanity, or the New Group of World Servers as mediator between Hierarchy and Humanity. Hence we see the great and powerful potential of this conjunction in the full moon chart. As our Hierarchy is under the spiritual supervision of Sirius (‘the brilliant star of sensitivity…and …that great star of Initiation’), the cosmic Christ is able to work upon the Christ principle in all the lives within this solar system. On the reversed zodiacal wheel, Leo is the eighth sign, number eight being the number of the Christ. The soul ruler of Leo, Neptune is one the Christ’s esoteric names, having a close relation to the heart centre in both the solar system and individual human being. Indeed, Leo is about individuality or intense self-consciousness, that through initiation becomes group conscious, reflecting its Aquarian polar opposite, the Moon’s position at these Leo solar festivals. ‘Individualisation’ saw the birth of consciousness many millions of years ago (when the Sun was in Leo), leading to another momentous time now (with the Sun going into Aquarius) where Humanity are taking the first initiation (ruled over by Leo) en masse. So at this time the world is seeing many individualistic people who are making an impression upon the world through movies and music for example, distinct from the mass consciousness, yet vastly appealing to the mass. At a higher turn of the spiral, those who are taking the first ‘systemic’ (third) initiation are making their ‘mark’ (to coin a Masonic term) in demonstrating their use of the fiery substance of the mental plane. Leo is a fire sign, and like the other fire signs, esoterically always carries forward that which begins in a water sign. Cancer, the previous watery sign to Leo, is a sign of mass conciousness, and Leo is a sign of individual consciousness. Leo emerges as an individual from the mass of Cancer. Both signs have Neptune as their soul ruler. Leo is the fifth sign and the mental plane is the fifth – and the seat of the soul. 5 is related to 10, the number of perfection, and the tenth sign of Capricorn, a sign of initiation. Leo’s fiery mental body is represented by the Lion’s mane, depicting the mental aura, from whence Leo derives its power – but also its pride. The word ‘mane’ is related to ‘manas’, Sanskrit for ‘mind’. Leo is the ‘King of the Beasts’ – which can be interpreted as the spiritually advanced soul who has ‘sovereign’ rule over the subjects he serves and rules. Leo here is the Raja Yogi (Raja Yoga, the ‘kingly science). Or Leo can be the beast that lurks in that fifth chakra (counting from above down), the solar plexus, where is expressed the shadow, or all those untamed aspects of the animal nature. Here is the king who has learnt about power but not unfolded love sufficiently, and is a tyrant to those he rules. The former has unfolded the love petals of the Leonine heart, serving his subjects magnaminously and with humility. This Leo is the true ‘sovereign’. Uranus (hierarchical ruler of Leo) is the energy into which this type of Leo is tapping, and which allows Leo to be rigorous with self-imposed discipline, to condition its environment and not be conditioned by it. ‘Leo the Lion Heart’ is a term that is often associated with courage and daring, qualities associated with the first Ray of Will or Power, which pours through Leo. The word ‘courage’ derives from the French ‘couer’ meaning ‘heart’. Yet the physical heart and heart chakra are also associated with Love. Hence in Leo is a great capacity for developing more courage through expanding loving awareness, and through that gained courage, the expansion of a loving heart. Herein lies one of the mysteries of Leo’s dual expression of Love and Will, the two major components of human living which are reflected on the mental and emotional levels. The mental (reflection of will) has already been discussed, in terms of Leo’s power, but Leo is also a passionate emotional (reflection of love) being. It
is said that Leo is connected with the astral permanent atom, that repository
of the sum total of emotional experiences in all lifetimes: The Leonine actor at centre stage is intensely self-aware, and has a reservoir of deep emotion to plumb. She may experience fear in the stomach (solar plexus) before a performance, but makes it ‘right on the night’ as courage (heart) is evoked. Her lines are learned, ‘burned in the brain’, firming a foundation for the creative act of performance to the audience, who are her Aquarian polarity. Leo is the creative sign par excellence. The Sun is a giant furnace of ongoing explosions and reactions in a great cosmic drama which fuels this solar system physically and spiritually. The human Leo is infinitely creative, dramatic, life-giving and sovereign. In the first Leo full moon chart, Neptune is prominent conjunct the Moon and opposite Mars. Both Mars and Neptune are co-rulers of the solar plexus centre, offering opportunity for humanity to counter the warring energies of Mars, desire and the emotions, raising them to the heart. Mars in Leo can be intensely selfish and is also in the Mars-ruled decanate of Leo, so this will be challenging yet resolvable. Related to and perhaps behind this is a square of Pluto to Venus, a very challenging aspect about transforming human relationships. One can be very ruthless and critical with this kind of aspect, so it will be interesting to see how it works out among some of the warring nations in the world. Of course India and Pakistan both share a stellium of planets in Leo, so perhaps there will be flare-ups again in their relations. The
second full Moon in August is in the last degree of Leo, conjunct the
star Regulus: Regulus is derived from ‘reg’, meaning ‘ruler’ or ‘lawgiver’, and was one of the ‘four royal stars’ of ancient times, “…holding in its significance the thought that man can now be a law unto himself, for he has that within him which is the king or the ruler.” [5] Its name implies ‘regulate’ a somewhat Saturnian keyword. Saturn in this extraordinarily powerful horoscope is placed in Gemini, which occultly forms a point of entrance (through Gemini’s pillars) for the energies of Sirius. Saturn is also a ‘Lord of Karma’ who dispenses the greater Law of Karma which precipitates from Sirius the Source. As Saturn has much to do with materialisation and the making of forms, whilst Gemini is related to etheric blueprints, the combination of both makes for a great manifestation and externalisation of subjective patterns or plans from the inner planes, or the One Great Ashram. Saturn makes harmonious aspects to both Sun and Moon in this chart, but a difficult square to Mercury in its own sign Virgo. The meaning here is similar to the foregoing, bringing thought into form using discrimination, constructing thoughtforms from the blueprint. This square will provide the needed spiritual tension to bring all these themes into reality. The Sun-Moon opposition sees Mars conjunct the Sun in Leo on one side, opposite Moon and Uranus on the other, a potentially volatile but enormously creative combination if utilised rightly. Uranus
in its own sign of Aquarius can only but stimulate the higher aspects
of Leo and its Uranian hierarchical influence, of a mental or soul quality.
Whereas the first Leo full moon stimulated the soul ruler Neptune, relating
more to the emotional nature: Jupiter is also in Leo at this full moon, opposite Neptune in a very complimentary way, both planets relating to religious or metaphysical belief systems and devotion to them. Pluto, in Jupiter’s sign Sagittarius, has been breaking down all the old belief systems and superstitions, and is conjunct the south node or dragon’s tail of this chart, pointing to a destruction of the past. Therefore this horoscope holds within it in a more powerful way than ever before the seeds of the new world religion or the synthesis of all other systems. Perhaps some new dispensation based upon cosmic laws will emerge, or a further consolidation and manifestation of the Ageless Wisdom. Interestingly, the square of Pluto and Venus in the first full moon chart has moved to an harmonious sextile aspect in the second full moon chart, indicating perhaps some resolution or ‘grace’ around the theme of human relationships. For
a chart set in New York, indicating trends for the West in general,
the sign Scorpio rises, indicating the burning ground of experience
for many, the vanquishing and victory against the nine-headed Hydra,
by Hercules, the World Disciple. As the first initiation is ruled over
by Leo, and as humanity’s sensitive response is awaited from
these impacts, let us recall: 1. Sensitivity to conditioning impacts from the environment, i.e., to the impacts of the world of human evolution, the three worlds or planes, through the medium of the three aspects of the response apparatus of the soul; 2. Sensitivity to the will, wishes and desires of the personality, the integrated self-conscious man, the lower self; 3. Sensitivity to the soul as the conditioning factor instead of sensitivity to the environing world as the conditioning factor; 4. The spiritual sensitivity of the God-Man (the soul and personality fused) to the environment. At this stage of unfoldment, the liberated man is not conditioned by his environment but begins the arduous task of conditioning it in relation to the divine plan and purpose and at the same time to cultivating sensitivity to the higher impacts of those worlds which lead to the final goal.’ [7] [7] Esoteric Astrology, Alice A. Back The Initiations of Krishnamurti: An Astrological Biography (From
the book of
the same name by Phillip Lindsay © 2002) Krishnamurti remains probably one of the most controversial figures of the twentieth century and has been the subject of several biographies, but none to date that has exhaustively treated the subject from an astrological viewpoint – as the above title indicates. One of Krishnamurti’s (K) more well known associations is with that of the Theosophical Society [1] who hailed him as the medium for The Christ or World Teacher. However, he basically rejected the mantle of World Teacher or being a medium for The Christ (also called Lord Maitreya); this was the plan that was laid down by his Masters, and of course his own soul ‘agreement’, before he incarnated. K exercised his free will and chose the path he thought best. Because of the hype generated by the Theosophical Society and the media for his proposed role on the world stage, K publicly turned his back on the Masters. It was not that he denied their existence, but basically saw them as just one more authority that had to be ignored if one was to fulfill soul purpose.A leading light of the TS was Charles Leadbeater, occultist and clairvoyant, who first discovered K as a 15 year old boy playing on a beach near Chennai in India. Leadbeater said that it was one of the most wonderful auras that he had ever seen and ‘without a particle of selfishness in it’.[2] From there K was cultivated by the TS via his two mentors, Leadbeater and Annie Besant. He was educated and anglicised over a number of years, as a gradual grooming for his future role as World Teacher, that theosphists rightly recognised as his destiny. However, as with all groups, certain crystallisations and illusions set in, wherein the original organism becomes an organisation. Power struggles and internal politics were going on constantly, not to mention a somewhat idealistic fervour whipped up over K’s future role on the world stage. All the while K was going through recapitulations of initiations he had taken in previous lives, and was well supported and nurtured by Besant and Leadbeater in this process. As he was approaching his Third Initiation, K’s ‘process’ was extremely painful as his crown chakra was opening up. Approaching his late 20’s, he became increasingly disenchanted with TS politics, and eventually so fed up that he left the society. Just before this he said: “There is a quiet rebellion within me, surging quietly but surely…you don’t know how I abhor the whole thing, all the people coming to meet us, the meetings and the devotional stuff. It all goes against my nature and I am not fit for this job.” [3] The rebellion in K can certainly be seen in his horoscope, with the planet of rebellion and revolution placed opposite his somewhat stubborn Taurus sun, and ‘T-squaring’ his Aquarian ascendant. Notwithstanding, by 1925 he had taken these two higher initiations, or expansions of consciousness, and was starting to develop his own philosophy, brought out in one of his famous speeches where he stated “Truth is a pathless land.” He urged his followers to reject authority, which included gurus and the Masters, yet he refused to be an authority or leader to them. Krishnamurti had a ‘Parsifal-like simplicity’ - in his highly advanced unfolded consciousness, he did not realise that most of his audiences were nowhere near his stage of the spiritual path. Yet he talked to them as if they were, while many were still struggling with far lesser stages of unfoldment. In this respect he left many people foundering by asking them to reject everything else, but not providing anything that was understandable for them to use. Even the Lord Maitreya purportedly said: “…although Krishnamurti was right to emphasise the necessity for independent thought, he was wrong in assuming that everyone else, regardless of past Karma and present limitations, could instantly reach that point which he himself had only reached through lives of effort, and by the aid of those Cosmic Forces apportioned him solely for his office as Herald of the New Age.” [4]K dropped another bombshell when he dissolved the Order of the Star, a group set up soley to promote him. By this time there were many theosophists totally disenchanted with K, yet his popularity in other parts of the world with new audiences discovering him was not waning. Krishnamurti went on to teach in many places around the world to thousands upon thousands of people. His Moon in Sagittarius is a symbol of the teacher who contains within him a treasury of wisdom. His Moon was opposite Venus in Gemini, planet and sign of engaging dialogue and communication. As Jupiter conjoined Venus, this dialogue was extremely philosophical and expansive. At various times before and after K’s disassociation from the TS and the Order of the Star, the ‘over-shadowing’ process from Lord Maitreya was tangible and real: “All at once the hall filled with a tremendous power which was so evidently flowing through Krishna…everyone in the room was most powerfully affected…one of the greatest experiences of our lives.” [5] The initiation process is determined astrologically: “The times and seasons are ascertained through esoteric solar and cosmic astrology; this being based, of course, on the correct figures, the true mathematical conception, and a real knowledge of the basic facts concerning the planets and the solar system. The horoscope of the initiate is also invariably cast so as to check the time for an individual initiation, and only when the individual signs blend and coincide with the ceremonial chart by which the Initiator is guided, is it possible to perform the ceremony. This is the reason why sometimes initiation has to be postponed to a later life, even when the initiate has done the necessary work.” [6]The author’s enquiry into the propitious times for initiation has been minutely investigated, and significant dates fulfill the required criteria for the specific initiations. For instance, Mars and the Moon are said to cause a ‘fearful conflict’ at the Third Initiation. Mars in K’s horoscope was certainly taking a pounding from transiting Pluto at the time, and his Moon was returning to its natal position by secondary progression. There have been many techniques given for esoteric interpretation of a horoscope, and The Initiations of Krishnamurti certainly attempts to apply many of these in the most practical way possible. Krishnamurti had several ongoing interactions with his Masters throughout his life, including some major events that occurred around 1948, with a resumption of his process and the pain associated with that. He went on to produce many books from his dialogues and talks, and lived until 1986, where he finally passed over at the age of 91. One major insight that comes from studying Krishnamurti’s chart is his humanity. Even at his advanced stage he had an imperfect personality that his soul had to utilise. He still had a shadow that needed redeeming, and he worked in a world of duality. The Dalai Lama has called Krishnamurti one of the greatest philosophers of the twentieth century, quite an accolade coming from such an auspicious leader. Krishnamurti’s philosophy has polarised many in the spiritual communities of the world, yet his life was extraordinary and he made people think. There remains the extraordinary paradox that K took the Arhat initiation of liberation, yet in some quarters his incarnation was not regarded as successful. Yet he demonstrated his humanity, his affection, vunerability and genius, inspiring many, and by that measure the incarnation was surely a success. [1] The Theosophical Society still exists today and facilitates
a valuable forum for all world philosophies and religions. There are
many branches in Australia and New Zealand as well as the rest of the
world.

Bulls
in the Labyrinth Phillip
Lindsay © 2003 The forces for the Wesak full moon of 2003 (Taurus, The Bull) are culminating a very potent six-month period for world leaders. The Sun-Moon opposition at this lunar eclipse falls at 25 degrees Taurus-Scorpio respectively, affecting all entities that have planets close to this degree or in aspect to it. Gemini is rising in the full moon chart set for Jerusalem, with its ruler Mercury placed in Taurus, this time retrograde, and at the point of a difficult T-square from Mars-Neptune and Jupiter:
At a personality level Mercury in Taurus can be very stubborn around changing one’s ideas, and its retrograde position can put many obstacles and frustrations in the way. Its position is stationary, about to go direct, hence an extremely powerful force to be reckoned with. There is on the one hand cause for hope in a breakthrough with peace negotiations, yet on the other a ‘stuck’ situation, an impasse. The following could unfold as a result of Mercury’s difficult aspects: 1. Antagonistic and aggressive communication (Mars square Mercury). 2. Deceptive and manipulative communication (Neptune square Mercury). 3. Grandiose and exaggerated promises (Jupiter in Leo square Mercury). 4. Bombastic and prideful attitudes. (Jupiter in Leo opposite Mars) 5. Delays and setbacks in communications. (Mercury retrograde) 6. Success in communications through meeting challenges presented. The above analyses do not seem very esoteric, but when it comes to nations, unfortunately the bottom exoteric line applies most of the time! The T- square in the Wesak chart overlays a similar configuration in the Israel chart. Note again in the preceding diagram: 1. Powell’s Taurus Sun shares a prominent degree of synastry with Israel, Palestine and Wesak Mercury. Note also Bush’s progressed Moon in Scorpio opposite Powell’s Sun. This could denote some real pressure from Bush on Powell. 2. Wesak Mars and Neptune conjoin Israel’s Aquarian Ascendant. The point of least resistance for Mars with this position is outright aggression. Positively, with the conjunction to Neptune, Mars which is ‘full of blood’, can yield up to Neptune, which is ‘full of life’. 3. Wesak Jupiter conjoins the Israeli Moon in Leo. This can have the effect of magnifying the negative Leo traits of pride and power, or it can have the opposite effect of great generosity and expansiveness. 4. Progressed Moon in Leo is about to conjoin Israel’s Saturn in Leo (exact in six weeks). This is most important as Saturn is so prominent in Israel’s destiny and the progressed moon has a 27 year cycle – it does not come around very often. There is also a profound connection to both the Moon and Saturn in the Judaic religion. Saturn rules Capricorn which is the personality of the Jewish Race. Saturn is also Jehovah. Moon, Pluto and Saturn in Leo in the Israeli chart have much to do with national pride and power. Wesak Mars and Neptune are opposite progressed Moon and natal Saturn. The second T-square for consideration is the one involving the lunar eclipse: 1. The full moon lunar eclipse falls on Israel’s Taurus Sun, and makes a difficult T-square to Mars in Leo - in Israel’s seventh house of relationships. As the Israeli Sun is on the cusp of the fourth house of the home, the theme of homeland is very strong already.
2. Both the Moons of Sharon and Arafat come close to the full moon Sun degree, as does the Israel Sun. As discussed last year, [1] territorial disputes and land possession are very much the lot of Taurus. Vulcan, the esoteric ruler of Taurus, conditions nations at their early unfoldment. 3. Negotiator Colin Powell’s Mercury shares the same degrees. Mercury rules communications, dialogue and negotiations. At Wesak 2002, Powell was sent in to broker peace negotiations but without success. Wesak Mercury fell at the same degree as many of the protagonists’ planets, yet failed to produce any of the illumination Taurus is noted for, at least at a higher level. However, Powell’s Mercury is trine to Jupiter and does augur well for skills in foreign diplomacy, so all is not quite lost. Note the extraordinary tension created by the grand cross involving Israel’s Mars which sits opposite America’s Moon. Given the protracted negotiations over the last several years, it does not seem that from the above configurations anything will give. The most deeply entrenched aspects of the whole problem are being focussed upon at this full moon. If that can be shattered by the Ray One force of Pluto ruling Scorpio, then something may emerge through the forging Ray One forces of Vulcan ruling Taurus,. But it seems that this situation will not change until the Taurean element is taken out of the leadership of both sides – only then may there be a chance for any meaningful dialogue. Looking at the esoteric ruler of the Gemini rising chart for Jerusalem, we find Venus placed in the very last degree of Aries. Venus is in ‘detriment’ here, with its power lessened. There is a much higher interpretation of Venus here, but only applies to those nearing monadic consciousness. The personality expression of Venus in Aries is the aggressor or initiator in relationships. It can be a positive force for change and incidentally creates a grand trine to Mars and Jupiter in the Israeli chart. Usually this would bring in some harmony and still might, yet the sign of Aries may make negotiations more forceful or martial on Israel’s part. Venus is well aspected by sextile to Saturn in Gemini which may well be able to bring about a structure (a ‘road map’) on which to build future unfolding processes. Where are Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein? In the meantime, Saddam Hussein (Taurus Sun) is still eluding capture in May 2003. If Hussein is hiding in one of the many underground bunkers in Iraq, then there is his labyrinth and lair. He is going through his progressed Moon ‘balsamic’ phase, which is the darkest part of the lunar cycle before the new moon phase in mid-July 2003. If he is still alive, he could well be groping his way through the dark in terms of his next moves. Osama Bin Laden (progressed Sun in Taurus) likewise may be holed-up in one of the many cave complexes in Afghanistan where he has hidden before. It has been speculated by many as to whether these two have a link and the possibility has been demonstrated by this author. [2] Briefly, to recap:
This type of progressed synastry between two individuals can indicate a very close relationship that unfolds and develops for mutual benefit.
The first pairing is strongly compounded by this second pairing where Bin Laden’s progressed Sun is conjunct Hussein’s progressed Moon and applying a few degrees to Hussein’s Sun.
The third pairing is in late Taurus, between Hussein’s fox-like Mercury and Bin Laden’s Mars, a potentially deadly combination. Ruler of Hussein’s Sun, Venus, is progressed in Taurus, sitting on his Mercury in Taurus; it can give a shrewd mind, endowed with a potent memory, with great powers of concentration, although stubborn and mentally blind at times. Bin Laden’s Transits and Solar Return for 2003 Bin Laden’s natal Mars sits within a fraction of a degree to Hussein’s Mercury in Taurus. If Mars is the God of War and Mercury the Lord of Communication, then this particular synastry may work well for them on such themes. Bin Laden’s Mars is square to Pluto in Leo, and this pattern represents a major ‘samskara’ for his incarnation. Both Pluto and Mars are ‘non-sacred’ planets, which influence the form nature, as opposed to ‘sacred’ planets that help to fuse the personality as the soul’s instrument. Mars square to Pluto can give an overly forceful, violent and egotistical nature, which is naturally attracted to war and conflict. Bin Laden of course fought for ten years in the Afghani war against Russia. This aspect can also tend to draw attention through spectacular stunts (9/11), and give lust for revenge. The Scorpio full moon eclipse of 2002 fell on bin Laden’s natal Mars (which would trigger the natal square to Pluto), possibly influencing him to strike quite suddenly, with unpredictable force. This could well work out six months after in the corresponding opposite full moon in Taurus (Wesak) 2003 – which falls across the Mars axis again. (Six-month eclipse cycles quite often work out like this from one sign to the polar opposite) That time is upon us now amid new terrorist alerts due to activity gathered by intelligence. Bin Laden’s next big plan may soon unfold. Quite astonishing also is Bin Laden’s solar return chart for 2003 – it is the same day as the Uranus ingress into Pisces for the next seven years. Transiting Pluto, soul ruler of Pisces, squares his Pisces Sun (and opposes Saturn) not just for the solar return period of one year, but to September 2004. Pluto as Lord of Death could very well come to claim him in 2003, but not before he attempts to go out with a bang – apt for ‘spectacular’ Mars square Pluto, and reasonable speculation could point at an attempt to explode a nuclear device. If indeed he has linked up with Hussein in some way., the latter may be able to finance such a project from the stolen billions he allegedly possesses. The
scenario that could unfold if all the above speculation has any
substance, is that Hussein backing Bin Laden could unleash a nuclear
weapon upon Israel. That would be a logical choice for them it seems,
given their desperate situations and especially with the synastry between
these parties so eerily close. [1]
