Soul Plan

Raimo Keloharju

Divine Purpose is put into effect by the Plan. The latter is the part of the Purpose  which has precipitated into the consciousness of humanity. It is produced by the cumulative effort of incarnated human souls. The Soul Plan is the portion of the Plan which the Soul decides to carry out through its mortal extension. As the Soul Plan is projected into the horoscope of the Soul, it can be derived from the birth chart. The chart which is compiled from the Soul Plan is called “the chart of the crosses”. (EA 90) This is the guideline: The esoteric astrologer begins from the synthesis as the occultist always works from the generalities to specifics.

Triune God was the signpost of the latest Cycle. We are now entering the Cycle of the three aspects plus One behind. This cycle of Unity manifests to the human soul through the three aspects. Fourfold Ray Pattern is reflected by the Soul Plan in this solar system of the fourth order: (Raimo Keloharju: Purposive Astrology (PA) 155; Unpublished version, 1999)

Figure 1. The Pattern of the Soul Plan

The Soul Plan combines three triangles. The Spiritual Triangle (the first aspect) consists of the Soul Ray, the Soul purpose and the personality ray. It is the lower part of the double triangle A, B, C, D in Figure 2. The Soul purpose reflects Monadic Purpose (A) which is beyond the manifestation.  Thus, the first aspect is a minute system of the fourth order. The Soul Triangle (the second aspect) and the Personality Triangle (the third aspect) will be explained later.

Figure 2. The Soul Plan

The Rays of Will are the starting point. Each of them is the unity of the three aspects. (see EA 86) The Soul steps down the Rays of Will to the rays of Love. In this way the personality is guarded against the energy which would destroy him. The astrologer has to infer the Soul Ray and the personality ray until the age and status of man can be seen from his aura. (TWM 334) The esoteric ruler of the rising sign determines the Soul purpose.

The Soul Ray. The Soul Ray is the Hierarchical Ruler of the Controlling Constellation. The list of the latter is given below. (EA 490)

 Ray I             Aries

Ray II            Virgo

Ray III           Cancer

Ray IV           Scorpio

Ray V            Leo

Ray VI           Sagittarius

Ray VII          Capricorn

The Soul Triangle E, F, G in Figure 2 is made by the esoteric rulers of the Soul Ray. The Hierarchical Ruler links the Soul Triangle and the Spiritual Triangle as the following example will illustrate. (PA 24) This link was not shown in Esoteric Astrology as you can see by comparing pages 68 and 86 in EA. Sometimes it is wise to postpone the time for a discovery. Triangle E, F, G of a fourth ray soul consists of Vulcan, Mars and the Earth. Mercury is the Hierarchical Ruler of Scorpio on the Fixed Cross and the corner-point (B) in the Spiritual Triangle:

                      Taurus           Venus            Vulcan           Vulcan

Ray IV           Scorpio          Mars              Mars              Mercury

                      Sagittarius      Jupiter            The Earth       Mars

Soul purpose. The esoteric ruler of the rising sign determines the Soul purpose. (EA 17)

The personality ray. Consider Figure 2 again. Personality ray (D) in the Spiritual Triangle and the Personality Triangle (H, I, J) are linked to the Cosmic Cross on which the Sun sign of the disciple is found. One of the four esoteric planets of the Cross determines the personality ray, the others determine the Personality Triangle. The astrologer chooses the planet of the personality ray by using his intuition or by educated guess work. This is why the competent esoteric astrologer must always be the initiate.

Suppose that the Sun is in Sagittarius, which is one of the constellations of the Mutable Cross. The esoteric rulers are then Venus, the Moon (Vulcan), the Earth, and Pluto. Suppose further that of these four rulers the Earth is the ruler which determines the personality and that Virgo is the rising Sign. Vulcan then relates to the Soul purpose.

Ray Formula lists the planets which deliver the Soul Plan. In earlier example it is thus as follows:

Figure 3. The illustration: Fourth Ray soul – third ray personality

The three triangles of the structure should always be interconnected because the three aspects are inseparable. Some planets of the structure may be in conjunction in the birth chart. This creates a linkage which the structure does not have. Take it. If there is still a loose triangle, there is something wrong in the ray assumptions.

The left figure shows the 3x3 structure of nine-fold consciousness. When the planets in it appear in more than one triangle, the structure becomes simplified by fusing corner-points. The left figure is reduced to the right figure as the Earth appears two times and Vulcan three times. Vulcan is in the orbit of Mercury. Their locations are taken as the same.

Figure 3 should reflect the spiritual status of the disciple. Therefore, psychological interpretation is also needed. The Science of Psychology in the beginning Cycle will consist of three sciences: Centers (1st aspect), Rays (2nd aspect) and Astrology (3rd   aspect). (EPII 479-80) The Centers (chakras) determine the current state of progress for the entity. Each Center is conditioned by the ray which transmits the energy into it. The task of Astrology is to map the structure in which progress is made through relationships.

Djwhal Khul (DK) has outlined the new astrology of the soul in His books through AAB. It was left to us however to interpret the scattered ideas for a needed synthesis. To the Masters we are as small children who should learn to think by ideas dropped into the mind. This article will demonstrate how pieces can be put together by additional information to the Soul Plan regarding the spiritual status.

This solar system is based on Love, demonstrating as Awareness and Consciousness. We progress by conquering planes of consciousness. DK calls the process microcosmic sensory evolution. (TCF 188-9) The list given out by Him has been copied here because the synthesis will be based on it:

Figure 4. Microcosmic sensory evolution

The seven sub-planes (of consciousness) relate to the state of progress attained through the seven major Centers. Microcosmic (3rd) sensory (2nd) evolution (1st) takes place in this framework. An example will illustrate:

The fourth sub-plane of the mental plane is called ‘Discrimination’, which is sublimated Taste. The Dweller on the Threshold of initiation then learns to discriminate between right and wrong values (TCF 194). As it will be proved in this article, Pisces manifests on this sub-plane through Jupiter (exoteric ruler) and Pluto (esoteric ruler). Jupiter refers to the fourth Center (Heart) which opens in the second initiation. Pluto is the planet of personality. The first ray of Pluto has to power of beneficent destruction which molds the personality. It causes the death of all separative desire and love, even spiritual longing and aspiration by the time of the fourth initiation.

To understand how the sublimated senses and rays are related, astrological relationships between twelve Constellations and three types of planetary rulers (EA 68) are needed. Two problems still remain. In which way

(A) Should Constellations (signs) be assigned to the planes in Fig. 1?

(B) Should then the rulers be assigned?

(A) The allocation of Signs. The Tibetan has collected information regarding the twelve creative Hierarchies. (EA 34-5) It is part of the Great Illusion to stop there. When the Great Wheel is turned backwards it ends in Aquarius in Cosmic Adi. (TCF 344. See Raimo Keloharju: The Relativity of Reality (RR), p. 24. Helsinki 1995) As the Cosmic Physical Plane begins from Leo, each sub-plane of it has a polar opposite on the Cosmic Sub-Planes. Therefore, the signs on the planes of consciousness are known. Scorpio on plane VII.4.7 for example corresponds to Taurus on Plane IV.7.

(B) The allocation of ruler. Sight relates to mental plane. It is the recognition of the triplicate needed in manifestation. This paramount correlating sense has its highest expression in Realization on plane 3.5. The space of astrology ends there when it concerns human progress. The three types of rulers will be assigned to twenty-four sub-planes on the following basis: (PA 112-3)

(1) The 24 sub-planes correspond to two Zodiacs. This is All that IS in this solar system.

(2) Each plane relates to a sign and each sign as the substitute to the same constellation relates to three rulers. As each sign appears two times, the three rulers have to be nominated into two groups.

(3) The next solar system will cover three Zodiacs and our planetary Logos prepares humanity for this change. The soul of the planetary Logoi is on the Third Sub-plane of the Cosmic mental Plane V.3. A lower correspondence to the three Zodiacs is fourfold:

·        Seven planes. They are planes V.3 – VI.2.

·        Five planes. They refer to Hierarchies I – V on planes VI.3 – VI.7.

·        Seven planes. They refer to Hierarchies I – VII on planes VII.1 – VII.7.

·        Five planes. Five types of elementals on the involutionary arc reflect planes VII.7 – VII.3 in reverse order. Plane VII.4 corresponds to “the Eight Sphere”, controlled by ray 3 (TCF 588). Plane VII.3, the third scheme and the third chain correspond to the planetary Entity. This is the secret of planetary avitchi (TCF 705).

Figure 5 shows the Space for Realization. According to the Law of Correspondences the 24 signs are divided into groups of 7,5,7,5. This division is shown on the right side. As the scale 7,5,7,5 refers to the planes which are counted down, the Hierarchical Rulers are placed at the top.

Figure 5. The Space for Realization

Figures 4 and 5 relate the sublimated senses and the planetary rulers with the planes. This linkage provides the possibility of estimating the spiritual status of man from the birth chart data. The door is open for the astrological theory of initiations. Astrology is destined to become the Science of Initiation. (EA 484)

Let us now return to Figure 3. Each planet in it relates to one or more planes. Figure 5 makes the relationships specific. Figure 6 contains this additional information. New questions can now be raised. Does Mars in the Soul Triangle for example refer to Clairaudience (plane 6.5), Higher Clairvoyance (5.5), Spiritual telepathy (5.1) or Hearing (4.7)?

Figure 6. The rulers are plane-related

Sibelius had Sagittarius as the Sun sign and Virgo as the rising sign. Figure 6 outlines his Soul Plan, supposing that his Soul Ray was 4 and personality ray 3. Let us assume that they were. In that case there is the line of sublimated Hearing in the Soul Plan of this famous Finnish composer. It links the Soul Triangle and the Personality Triangle:

Comprehension (4.7, Mars),

Higher clairaudience (5.7, Mercury and Venus)

Clairaudience (6.5, Mars)

The Personality Triangle contains a line in sublimated Touch or feeling: From Vulcan (5.6, Planetary psychometry) to Venus (6.4, Psychometry).  The same line also links the exoteric ruler (Venus) and the esoteric ruler (Vulcan) on plane 6.4 (Psychometry). Finally, the line in Touch is part of the line in Hearing.

The assumptions concerning the rays are crucial. Other ray combinations could be tested and results compared with the facts known about Sibelius. The point is that the ‘Soul Chart’ uses only a fraction of information available in the Birth Chart. In which way do the aspects found in the latter support or restrict the flows in Figure 6? Is it possible that corner-points in it could be cross-circuited? I am only indicating a direction to possible future studies in esoteric astrology.
