infinite visits

I dare not breathe
on this stream
that flows before me
lest I ruffle
its mirror-like beauty
so still though flowing
with sparkling eddies
that flash blue
coalescing around
the central core
breathless I watch
as my heart almost stops
beating
whilst the hem
of the Infinite's gown
brushes by

infinite revisited

there it comes again
stealing my breath away
and, like a repentant thief
breathes it back softly
on my cheek
whispering
in a voice commanding
all other voices
filling me
with magnaminous space
engulfing what remains of I
how can I resist the engaging charms
of my betrothed?
oh the vanity of struggle
in resisting the Infinite
it comes to be
who you truly are

By Jove!

the King has come to conquer
our ragged defences
no match for his mighty army
who seek to smite
all that blights:
heart shadows
of black hatred
fundamental fear
petty power ploys,
primordial
crustacean
territorial
imperative,
pompous vanity
your shields are useless
drop your swords
beat a retreat
to the Central Citadel
and welcome your new ruler
allow Him to stay and slay you
through and true
slay the slayer in you
let your forlorn feifdom
become his kingdom

undiscovered gold

what if she had five lovers?
would his enmity for one
increase five-fold
would he double bitterness
and triple hate
quadruple his bile?
he would die
from auto-intoxication
poisoned with imperil
by conditional love
relinquish gained ground
it was never for the taking
release the past
less it be your unmaking
forgive or be forsaken
Fumi says (with a grin)
goldmines of the heart
are not for claim-staking
they are in the public domain
cash in
your hard-foraged nuggets
live the life of the rich in spirit!

Pan's Chapel

forest glade
conceals
a secret pond
pristine and pure
well fed springs
eternal
steep deep
from ancient strata
quicksilver and antimony
hold heaven's
cobalt vault
in limpid silence

a waft of wind
stirs the reed
who dares to tremble
in the stillness
vibrating in the water
while Tui scribes her song upon
the feathery fleeting ethers,
the grace of One is here

Scorpion Riders

We ride
deep into the night
hooves thundering
in the pitch black
driven by demons
with moons for eyes
heading for the border
from the far country,
the place of swine and husks.
Penetrating deeper
into the heart
of the great Sleeper
with only a guiding glimmer
of Northern Lights.
Probing night's veils
tearing them asunder
ripping past
like tattered sails
flung into our turbulent wake,
eddying away
into a tarry sea
engulfing
all chasing phantoms,
dissolving the trail.
But onward gallop,
along the Path
the lonely dawn
now waits purple
beyond the skyline
promising
solar gold
from the East.
Let not your horses
flag and fail
though the night is long
the feast awaits you
only one more mile…

Dialogue I

How can I
contain You?
I have navigated
from the deeps
to tottering steeps
beneath your precipice
precarious climber
picks his way
the atmosphere
your very breath
pure oxygen rare
my hungry lungs
draw greedy in
sweetly stinging
as burning buddhi
sears a smoking brand
upon the timeless heart
one who
glimpsed the summit
realised
released from prison
proceeds upward now
from his perch
lest in hesitation
he plummet.

Dialogue II

How can You
constrain me?
my fiery aspiration
and obedient alignment
in your Presence
evokes
the beast of memory
stalking shadow-like
in the mind's projector
glaring
upon my wall
keeping silent vigil
I watch
the fleeting fragments
of all that has ever occurred
as they flit across my vision
woven into combinations
that never occurred
more myths
that clothe and veil
stories to dispel
with bright new yarns
from the Master Weaver
sitting at his looms
singing in his new song
from threads
of all the ancient tunes.

Dialogue III

How can
We be?
for aeons
you have courted
this elusive lover
who recognised
that the soul in you
was mine
who delighted
to flirt
with your flattery
made suggestive
and sensual response
to your bold advance
played hard-to-catch
like a young faun
frolicking free…
Rohini,
among the trees
by your Yamuna
now swollen
with the monsoon
ready to burst her banks
come quickly lover!
your wedding
has been announced
divest your old garments
come naked and unadorned
for your crown glorifies thee…
the feast has not begun
and already
I am intoxicated!
