Dragon Scryers
12-7-04

I pause apiece
under sundown's
wooly fleece
warming icy eve…
as wispy dragons
scry the sky
frolic
in the yellow glow
like children of apollo
consummate this day
with a twist and hiss...
but I have lingered
long enough
on these strange shores
like some ship-wrecked
Odysseus, numbed
succumbed
to the siren-song
of Aoeteroa
pegged down
gulliver-like
by lilliputians for a while
special ones … philliputians!
elemental mischief
brain-born progeny
their shackles
now well shaken
tossed-off
set this wanderer
gleefully free …

Letting Go
12-7-04

awaken weeping
for lost loves
I'd been keeping
holding to my heart
fond memories
of a look
a touch
a gentle smile
released now
into the infinite stream
parading past my vision
of all those other souls
wandering
toward the Source
each wrapped up
in their gripping plight...
it cruelly stings
to say goodbye
sobs anguish up
from long lost
burial grounds
to shake the cage
around a grieving heart
contorting the countenance
into grimaces of regret
with the pain of long ages...
and all the salty rivers flow
wash away the past
those faces floating
downstream
away to other worlds

Vigil
10-10-04

watching the stream
drifting by my eye
through this light oasis
where elegant ebony palms
sift in supplication
all the ancient sands…
shaking out
the strands of time
tangled knots of songs
long forgot
hymns and prayers
to the One on High
sung and sighed and cried…
and now I no longer watch
I am in the stream
I am the stream
I am that I am Am I?
observer and observed
still vigilant
it washes through me
this tide of time
that which was
is and ever will be
it gushes from the source
the sacred fount
rediscovered
whilst lost and thirsting
in sandy wastes
it seizes by the brow
baptises in a fiery font
grips a gladdened heart
renews the ageless pledge
destroys all darkness
invoking Hesperis
becomes a devotee
of all returning nirvanees…
breathing breathless
this ancient stream

Varuna Rules
7-11-04

Arise
from your dusty river bank
come in, the water's fine
wade into my sparkling
sapphire wine
let go of all you know
go with my flow
let my mighty current bear you
to the ocean where Varuna waits
to ride his devoted steed
la mare de la mer
canter in the tide.
